Ultimate Victoria ABN 71390392145 PO Box 549 Collins St West Melbourne, Victoria AUSTRALIA, 8007 www.ultimatevictoria.com.au Position Description Assistant Coach, Victorian Under 18 Representative Team Summary Assistant Coaches will work with the Head Coach to prepare teams for competition and assist with strategy, player management and team performance at the event. They will be involved in developing coaching plans to build team skills and strategies, delivering content at the individual and team level, preparation and monitoring of small group training, player management, building mental strength at the individual and team level, mentoring players and leaders, contributing to team strategy and tactics, and running training camps and other team events. Assistant Coach/es are appointed by the Ultimate Victoria board after consideration by an appointment panel and the Head coach. Their appointment is specific to a particular event. Assistant coaches may also choose to apply for the role of selector for that team, this will be considered separately to the assistant coaching application process. Ultimate Victoria is seeking assistant coaches for the two under 18 representative teams to: Assist the development of players in the squad, with a view to increasing the depth of the selection pool Assist in planning the on-field and team development components of the program Collaborate with the leadership of the selected Team in preparing the players for the tournament and providing on-field direction Work with the Ultimate Victoria Development Officer and other support staff to plan and deliver the team program. This is a voluntary role which reports to the Head Coach and Ultimate Victoria Development Officer. Ultimate Victoria ABN 71390392145 PO Box 549 Collins St West Melbourne, Victoria AUSTRALIA, 8007 www.ultimatevictoria.com.au Tasks Responsibilities may include: Assist in planning the preparation schedule for the Team including training camps and other events, in collaboration with the other support staff in the program (Particularly the Head Coach). mentor individual players to set and track goals in and out of training sessions manage team warm-ups and recovery sessions set up and run drills and games at training sessions maintain clear and timely communication with team members, the head coach and the support team undertake tactical analysis and assist the head coach in providing strategic direction provide feedback and direction from training sessions and game observations be a role model for Spirit of the Game set and track goals for their own development as a coach Essential Criteria Strong interpersonal and communication skills Knowledge of elite ultimate strategy Desirable Criteria Accredited AFDA Level 1 Ultimate coach Experience as an Ultimate coach Experience as a player on an elite team Experience preparing for major tournaments, including fitness, skills team training, recovery and travelling as an athlete. Current First Aid certificate. These costs are to be borne partly by the players trying out for and selected to the team, so it is imperative that coaches act to minimize these costs.
