10 Tips to Winning the Warm Up

Professional • USA High Performance Coach • AVAC® Director of Tennis Use the warm up to learn about your opponent’s game.
Look for the following clues:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. What type of grips do they use ‐ are they left or right handed?
What type of shots do they prefer ‐ how they handle low or high
balls?
Is their forehand or backhand more powerful?
What types of spin did they use off either side?
How effective is their footwork moving up or to the side?
What height do they prefer on the forehand & backhand?
How good is their balance when they volley and recover?
Do they look comfortable on short balls?
Are they comfortable with their overheads?
How did they serve; how much spin or speed was used?
While knowing your own game is important when you enter a match,
learning all you can about your opponent can give you confidence and help
you know how to use your game to defeat them.

PTR 10 & Under Training at AVAC®
The Professional Tennis Registry will be at AVAC® Saturday, January 9 from
1 ‐ 6 pm and Sunday January 10 from 8 ‐ 12 pm. Tennis Pros including the
AVAC® Staff will receive training on how to work with kids 10 & Under. This course is approved by the ITF (International Tennis Federation.)
