Scott Hoch, Dan Forsman and Bernhard Langer

QUICK QUOTES FROM:
SCOTT HOCH
DAN FORSMAN
BERNHARD LANGER
AN INTERVIEW WITH:
SCOTT HOCH
Q. You actually birdied 16 and 17,
which probably not a lot of people did today to
make the turn at 1-under. What was your
mindset then?
SCOTT HOCH: I'm just trying to play. I
just -- actually, I hit it pretty good today. I was a
little off later on, I don't know, maybe I got a little
tired, hit some errant shots.
But my putter didn't do anything for me.
Yesterday it was great, today it was -- as a matter
of fact today I even had two, I had about, I missed
three putts, I just flat out yipped it. I just hit terrible
putts from four feet and in. And that's three shots
right there.
And it could have been a decent round
otherwise without making any putts. But I just
didn't -- I drove it well. Shoot, kept hitting drivers,
and I don't think I missed a fairway until I got
around here and then I hit some in the fringes, first
cut, I thought that were good tee balls, but that's
about all I did. Except I hit an errant tee shot on 4.
That was it.
And then an errant iron on 2. Those were
really the only bad shots I hit today, but I just
couldn't make anything. It was, it just wasn't good.
Q. Surprised that you're either going to
be leading or tied or near the lead?
SCOTT HOCH: No, not really because at
the end of the first day nobody was -- we had a
couple 4s and then 2-under was third, I think. So,
no, I mean it's -- I got to figure out what to do. I got
to figure out what to do after this. The next, oh, the
next few days, because I'm hitting it well enough,
but yesterday I putted good, had great feel, today, I
didn't read them right, the ones I putted, I misread
those, and then I hit some really bad putts too.
Q. Are you where you want to be
heading in the final two days?
SCOTT HOCH: No, I would like to be
10-under. But I'm where I can still do something. I
still have a good chance as long as I play well.
There's a lot of good players out here. I played
with two, Bernie and James today and you know,
all of us, we seemed to get stuck. We would make
a birdie and then we just, we, Bernie hit it six feet
one hole and then 3-putted.
I mean, it's just one of those things that we
couldn't ever get it going. And I see why the
greens weren't very good yesterday, because the
greens are not, if you played early you're on much
better greens. And on this poa annua, when it
grows in the afternoon, especially being around 75
degrees or so, it makes it tough putting if you're not
putting it well.
And I hit two that I didn't know -- two
shorter putts where I wasn't really sure about the
break -- and I putted like it. Those are the two that
I really hit bad.
Q. Your hands are all good?
SCOTT HOCH: Yeah, it's fine.

DAN FORSMAN
Q. You're tied for 11th place right now
and you're only four shots back from the lead.
How will you stay focused during the round
knowing that you're in the hunt for the win?
DAN FORSMAN: Well, all you can do is
go back to the council that you received from your
teacher, your professional, whose helped you
throughout, he always says stay focused, stay in
the present, take one shot at a time, and do what I
can do.
I can't worry about somebody else's score
out there, how they're doing. All I can do is focus
on my game and play one shot at a time. And if I
do that, not getting too high when the good birdies
come and not too low when the bogeys inevitably
come, keep a good even keel, I think I got a good
chance to play well and be in the hunt.
Q.
Is there a specific shot you
practiced yesterday or this morning that you
think helped you today?
DAN FORSMAN: No, not really. I knew
coming in it was going to be an examination of my
entire game. And it has been. You got to drive it
in the fairway, the greens are firm, you got to
control your iron shots, and you got to be below
the hole to have a chance to make a putt.
So I was able to do most of that. I had a
little seesaw battle going on the front nine there
early on the front nine which kind of derailed me a
little bit, but I got back on the rails and I feel pretty
good.
Q. You had a great first nine, you were
2-under.
DAN FORSMAN: Yeah.
Q. Did you feel like you had a certain
rhythm going like once you started?
DAN FORSMAN: I just felt good. I was
hitting the ball well, I was putting well, everything
just felt air tight. And then there was a leak on 10.
I hit a ball that spun off the green. I mean it's a
foot from being three feet from the hole and it spun
off and down the hill. I pitched it up like this and
had to make a 4-footer for bogey.
So it was the kind of thing that can happen
on a course like this and they happen instantly.
Even though you give it all you got, it's just the
nature of Major Championship golf.
Q. Was there a maybe a certain shot or
certain putt that you had that kind of set the
tone or kind of got you your momentum going?
DAN FORSMAN: Yeah, the putt I made at
11. That got me under par for the day and that got
me thinking, okay, I'm under, let's go. Instead of
being a bogey or something where you're over par.
So that kind of took a little of the pressure
off, a little of the handcuffs off, and I went out and
played the rest of the round and for the most part I
held up pretty well.
Q. What will you do tonight to prepare
for tomorrow? Do you have any rituals or
maybe something that -DAN FORSMAN: Not really. At this point
in my career, 50 years of age, I have done this
enough that I know I got to go back, relax,
decompress, and just kind of unwind and then get
some rest and get some good dinner and hopefully
have some sweet dreams about a lot of putts
dropping tomorrow and go out and do it.

AN INTERVIEW WITH:
BERNHARD LANGER
Q. Well, you know, you're doing well,
you're only in third place and you have two
more days and have you a chance to win. How
do you stay focused in the next couple days?
BERNHARD LANGER: Just do the same
thing that we always do. Just take one shot at a
time and play one hole at a time and do the best
that we can do, really. Don't get ahead of the
game, just there's still a long way to go. It's only
half time.
Q. Your group as a whole played pretty
good the past two days, do you think you fed
off each other?
BERNHARD LANGER: I think it helps
when you have players with you that hit the proper
shots and take the right clubs and do the right
thing. I think it's visually better than when they're
hitting left and right and all over the place.
Q. Do you feel like you had a certain
rhythm going once the round started or maybe

a certain shot that kind of set the tone for the
day?
BERNHARD LANGER: No, not really. I
thought I had it going and then I made that eagle
here on 15, which was my sixth hole, but then
immediately I made bogey on the next hole and
bogey on 18. So I gave them right back.
And actually played very nicely the last
sort of nine holes. But the greens were hard. I
couldn't make a putt.
Q. Were they harder today or softer?
BERNHARD LANGER: They were bumpy.
Q. It might rain tomorrow, do you have
any like a game plan tomorrow in case the
weather changes?
BERNHARD LANGER: No. Same thing.
The golf course won't change a lot. So it's just to
stay dry and keep the clubs dry and take an
umbrella, bring your waterproofs and keep going.
It's not the first time I'm going to play in the rain.
But hopefully we'll miss it anyway.
Q. Will you have a certain routine that
you'll do tonight to prepare for tomorrow or
maybe a right actual?
BERNHARD LANGER: No. No. I'm just
going to go stretch now and have some dinner and
shower and relax a little bit.
