Through “Thicke” and thin, equality will always win!
Robin Thicke’s music video for “Blurred Lines” has been criticized as a
misogynistic portrayal of society’s views of females (and it totally is). I
would like to point out that the contents of that video are kind of…um…
horrible. If you have not viewed this video and you plan to, brace yourself
for disgust.
While we are discussing this subject, allow me to inform you about common
feminist misconceptions:
• Feminism does not mean “women rule, men suck.” It means
“men are great, but women are just as great.”
• Feminists are not always men haters! More often than not,
feminists just oppose misogynists! Wow, this is a thing!
• Feminism is not a thing of the past. It is actually still an active movement that is very much needed in modern society.
• “But women can vote already! What do we need feminism
for?” Wow, we can choose a president? Cool beans!!! All we
have to put up with now are those dumb kitchen jokes and
having to listen to lame catcalls.
• There are male feminists, too! Yowza!
