About the Farmers’ Market
The Farmers' Market was created in 2011 to support the emerging Main Streets of
Ridley Park revitalization plan. The Main Streets organization was formed in 2010 and
produced a Fall Festival which was extremely successful and brought over 5,000 people
into town. Since our inaugural year with 20 vendors our Market had continued
success in 2012 and we have had more successful markets each year.
Committed to the success of the Farmers' Market, the Main Streets organization is
supporting the market both organizationally and with marketing and public relations.
In addition to the contribution by the Main Streets of Ridley Park program to the
Farmers’ Market, the Borough of Ridley Park has also invested in its future. The business
owners, Borough and residents have welcomed the Farmers' Market as a Thursday
evening neighbor and look forward to its return in 2017.
The Volunteers and staff of Main Streets of Ridley Park coordinate different events and
activities to draw customers to the Market. They also supplement the vendor fees for
events and marketing by recruiting business sponsorships for the market. This has
enabled Main Streets to keep the vendor fees low and the foot traffic high.
Preference will be given to producers who commit to the full season, but allowances
have been made for the producers who prefer a week-to-week commitment.
If you have any questions about the Farmers' Market, please contact us.

2017 Season Vendor Agreement between
Main Streets of Ridley Park
And
The Main Streets Farmers' Market Vendors
Name: The farmers and vendors of this market are called, collectively, the Main Streets Farmers' Market
(“MSFM”). Its core members are the producers and growers who will pay full season dues in the 2017
season. The Ridley Park Main Streets program, a not-for-profit organization sponsors the Market.
Purpose: To improve the marketing and sales of locally grown farm produce, locally made food items, baked
goods and handcrafted items made by the person selling the product directly to the consumer at a
convenient location in ways that foster business revitalization in Ridley Park and community life in the
Borough of Ridley Park.
Sponsor: The Farmers' Market is sponsored by the Main Streets of Ridley Parks program and is administered
by the Main Streets Manager, in cooperation with the Onsite Coordinator and volunteers.
The Main Streets program is the entity with decision-making authority in all matters.
Fees and Expenses: The Main Streets program also collects fees and pays bills in accordance with this
agreement, and maintains financial reports which will be available for inspection by any member vendor who
has paid or will be paying dues.
Mutual Respect: The Main Streets Board of Directors and staff hold in high regard a close working
relationship with the vendor/producers and the MSFM. Any designated representative from the MSFM or
the Main Streets program shall strive for harmony in meeting the needs of the farmers and vendors and
those of the revitalization program.
Non-Exclusivity: While the Main Streets program endeavors to assure a strong mix of product availability
at the Market, there may be overlap in product offerings by more than one farmer/vendor.
Participant Application and Fees: A completed application and copies of any required i n s u r a n c e
c o v e r a g e a n d licenses are requested as soon as farmers and vendors decide that they will participate.
2017 Fee is $300 for the season of 14 Market Thursdays from 4 PM to 7 PM,
June 1th – August 31st. The completed application i n c l u d i n g f u l l s e a s o n p a y m e n t is due
May 18, 2017. If for some reason an application is not approved, full payment will be returned.
2017 Fee for week-by-week attendance is $40 per week. Payment must be made prior to the
Thursday that the vendor will be attending. Payment may be made for multiple weeks on one
check.
Ridley Park Businesses: Main Streets of Ridley Park mission is: We are dedicated to developing
Ridley Park through events and charitable activities that allow residents of all ages the opportunity
to share and participate in our ongoing growth. For this reason, businesses who maintain a brick
and mortar presence in the Borough may participate in the Market at no charge. As there is a high
demand for spaces in the Market, Main Streets wants to make sure that only vendors willing to make
the commitment to participate weekly are given a guaranteed space. Vendors who can commit for
the complete Market Season are asked to complete a full season Application (page 2) and return
the application to our P.O.Box 364; with all necessary paperwork.
All payments should be made out to Main Streets of Ridley Park, with a memo indicating
"2017 Farmers' Market Dues" on the check. Checks should be mailed to:
Main Streets of Ridley Park
Attn: Farmers Market
PO Box 364
Ridley Park, PA 19078
At each new season, the previous full-year members in good standing will receive first priority, followed by
late joiners in good standing, then by applicants in the chronological order of their application. Main Streets
of Ridley Park may recruit a new applicant to improve market balance and vitality. Farmers and vendors
and others are encouraged to contact Main Streets with leads and recommendations for new farmers and
vendors.
Educational and Community Activities: Space will be made available for educational activities relating to
sustainable agriculture, for nonprofit community groups and Ridley Park Borough non-profit organizations.

Rules for Fundraisers and Sponsors are the same as with regular vendor/farmers. You will be asked

the schedule, we will find a place for you. The Market does not provide tables or tents. Bring what
you need. Your group is a guest at the Market. Please do not walk through crowds with signs or
solicit sales/donations from shoppers from outside of the market space you occupy. DON'T
FORGET to bring signs that let people know who you are fundraising for—and telling friends and
family to come out and support your sale may also increase your success!
Vendor and Market Day Guidelines – Signed Agreement is Required
Farmers and vendors are asked to read and comply with these rules. The On-Site Coordinator or other
designee is expected to remind farmers and vendors if they are not following these rules, especially if they
believe that a legal or other danger through non-compliance is threatened.
We are so excited to begin our seventh season! We ask that all Farms/Vendors help us keep the “buzz” and
excitement going by helping us make the MSFM the best it can be. You can help us by doing the following:
 Farms/Vendors should notify Main Streets by the Tuesday prior to a Market day if they are going
to be absent from the Market that Thursday
 Refunds and credits are not given for vendor cancellation. No-shows may forfeit their right to
participate in future Markets. No sub-letting or sharing of spaces is allowed without approval of
Main Streets.
 Please e-mail [email protected] as soon as possible if you will be late in
setting up
 The Main Streets committee will determine vendor booth location. Regular vendors will have the
same space each week to the extent possible
 Booth setup and breakdown is the responsibility of the vendor
 Vendors are to supply their own tables, chairs and covers for tables as appropriate
 Vendors are to supply their own Canopies/Tents, which must be weighted down to avoid issues
on windy days. Main Streets reserves the right to remove unsafe tents.
 Vendor areas must be kept neat and clean at all times. Vendors are responsible for cleaning
their own area completely at the end of the market and removing all trash, boxes, packing
materials and unsold goods. The Main Streets trash and recycling bins and adjacent dumpsters
are for patron and adjacent business use only and may not be used for any trash disposal.
Vendors should bring their own trashcan(s) and broom.
 Vendors are to park outside of the MSFM selling area after unloading. There is NO parking on
the firehouse ramp- you may load and unload if necessary but if the siren sounds YOU MUST
MOVE IMMEDIATELY!! Your vehicle is a safety hazard and non compliance will not be tolerated.
Every vendor is responsible for making sure the barricades are in place during and after
the market hours to keep customers from driving vehicles into the designated market area.
Customers have a tendency to pull into the market area creating a safety issue for
pedestrians. Upon your leaving the market, barricades must be replaced for the continued
safety of volunteers and vendors not yet finished breakdown!
The Definition of a Vendor is the actual producing individual, an immediate family member, staff, or
employee of the producing individual's business. Main Streets prefers that the majority of each
Farmer/Vendor’s product mix is produced/grown by the Farmer/Vendor.
Product Plans: Farmers shall submit a listing on their application of the crops and products they plan to grow
for sale at the market. Product admissibility is based on farmer/vendor interpretation of the "PASA ProducerOnly Guidelines" from the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture. "Crafts" is defined as
products whose ingredients were raised on the vendor's farm or made with their own hands.
External Regulations: Farmers and vendors must comply with applicable borough, county, state and federal
regulations such as:
•
Pesticide licensing and safe use
•
Approval seal on weighing devices State sales tax collected as required
•
Organic certification on claimed products
•
Food safety, sanitation, health permits and labeling issues that apply to the item
•
State inspection of nursery stock, required for selling whole plants for replanting (packs or pots)
If you have questions about regulatory issues, please contact the On-Site Coordinator.
Market Operations: The Market is open for business - rain or shine, in hot weather or cold!
Official hours of the market are from 4 PM to 7 PM. Farmers and vendors must arrive on time on sale days to
be ready to sell at the official opening time of 4 PM. Setup may begin at 3:00 PM. No sales are allowed before
the opening time or after the closing time of 7 PM. (Please note that no one is expected to turn away sales
that continue beyond 7 PM, but the market will begin breaking down at that time.) Vendors are to ensure that
their space is vacated, clean with trash removed - no later than 8 PM. A volunteer for Main Streets may
supervise opening and closing of the market.
Severe Weather/Emergency Cancellation: Official Notice of cancellation due to severe weather or
emergency situation will be made by 12:00 noon on Market Day by Main Streets committee. Vendors will be
contacted by email address provided by Vendor.
Normal Sales Practices: Farmers and vendors are independent entrepreneurs with a common stake in
creating a vibrant marketplace. Other farmers and vendors may question activities that seem to exceed normal
sales practices. These activities might include:
 Unsafe conditions or hazards at a stand
 A stand that impedes access to other farmers and vendors
 Consistent pricing of products well below profitable levels
 Condition of a stand, products, or vendor behavior that detract from the markets
appearance, overall quality or reputation.
Main Streets will have final determination on resolution of questionable sales practices or activities.
Signage:
 Signs must be posted before the Market begins listing prices of every item for sale
 Producers will display a sign identifying the name and location of their farm
 Growers should clearly separate and label organic and non-organic produce in the
same display
 Growers listing "organic" produce, or calling their produce "organic," must display a
sign giving their organic grower's certification and their certifier's organization.
All participants must comply with Delaware County Health Department regulations.
Food Safety-Cooling: All fresh meat, egg and dairy products must be stored, transported, and displayed at
41degrees Fahrenheit or less. If ice is used as a coolant, it must be manufactured from potable water, the
name and address of manufacturer must appear on the ice bag. Block ice may not be used.
Vendors will need a thermometer, sensitive to +/-2 degrees F and graduated in 2 degree Fahrenheit
increments or less, to monitor temperature of "potentially hazardous foods" being sold. Ice melt water must be
continuously drained away from the product into a suitably sized container for eventual disposal in a sanitary
sewer (not a storm sewer).
Food Labeling: Containers of food sold by weight must identify the net weight and ingredients of the food
on a label. All preserved, packaged, and baked goods must be labeled with the name of the product, a list of
ingredients, the net weight of the product, and the name and address of the producer.
Restroom Facilities: Restroom facilities for the use of the vendors and the public are provided in the Ridley
Park Borough Hall, Ridley Park Athletic Club and Ridley Park Fire House. These are located directly across
the street from the Market.
Marketing and Public Relations Services to be provided by Main Streets of Ridley Park program includes:
 Design, production and delivery of newspaper ads, posters, bag-stuffers, flyers and/or
other marketing materials.
 Event management (if needed)
 Maintain web domain, and point to it from special page on www.MainStreetsOfRidleyPark.com
 Maintain and monitor Facebook page and post specific events and activities on Facebook
 Email to market visitors on our mailing list with news about what's at the market on a
regular basis.
 Media Releases for market news, opening and events
We understand and agree to comply with these guidelines.
