History of Walk MS
Just over 28 years ago, the first Walk MS event was held by the
National MS Society.

• Since 1988 more than $920 million dollars have been raised
to drive groundbreaking research, provide life-changing
programs and guarantee a supportive community for those
who need it most.
• Walk MS is a charity walk series that takes place in over 550
locations with more than 330,000 people participating
annually.
• Walk MS is the 12th largest organized walk in the country
How do I get Started?
As part of the MS movement, you and your
team are committed to a world free of MS.

1. Register as the Team Captain
Form a Team
• Recruit at least 3 more walkers to join
you – your team can consist of friends,
family & co-workers. The more the merrier.

Putting the Fun in Fundraising
• Creative Fundraising ideas:
• - Create an email signature to use on your personal or work
email that links directly to the online donation page
• - Ask your church/synagogue if you can make a short
presentation at the next service. Have donation envelopes
handy!
• - Ask your hair salon to donate $2.00 of every haircut over a
weekend for your personal fundraising
• - Create return address labels that say “ I’m participating in the
MS Walk. Will you Sponsor me?

• Team Captain Heather Beaver of Team Emerick raises over
$1000 annually enjoying wine with friends and family!

National Team Week – January 11-15
• The Team that has the highest average of registered participants
that make a self-donation from January 11-15 will win a 10x10 team
tent at Walk MS (one winner in Dallas and one winner in Fort Worth)
• The team that registers the most participants on January 12 will win
4 tickets to a Dallas Stars Game
• The team that registers the most participants on January 13 will win
a water bottle Koozie for a each registered participant
• The team that registers the most participants on January 15 will win
a carry all charging cable per member up to 20
