Lesson 32 PLAYING FIRST THREE STRINGS This lesson shows you the natural notes on the third string and where those notes appear on the musical staff. INSTRUCTION octave Here are natural notes that you have learned so far. You can play them all on the first three strings. Combinoctave ing all the notes that you have now learned allows you to play two different octaves, G-G and A-A. The diagram below shows where these notes are located on the fretboard. PRACTICE Play these melodies below while counting the beats. You can now play entire octaves beginning on two different notes. Since B occurs on the fourth fret of the third string and the open position of the second string, you have two choices when playing the melody below. Play it with which ever note is easiest for you.
