CELEBRATE AMERICA’S
BIRTHPLACE—VISIT
WILLIAMSBURG AND
HOPE AND GLORY INN
Domestic: 4 people | 5 nights
The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation
Experience American history in elegance
and grace (with a little golf thrown in for fun)
when you travel to Colonial Williamsburg;
Irvington, Virginia, and surrounds by
commercial air. Four people will spend
three nights at the elegantly refurbished
Williamsburg Inn, renowned for its
comfort and style. The Inn is adjacent to
Colonial Williamsburg’s historic area, which
you will experience by carriage. A private
tour of the Colonial Williamsburg Silver
Collection hosted by curator John Davis is
also included. This collection includes the
pieces bequeathed by Nashvillian Lowry
Dale Kirby. You will also receive tickets
to tour nearby Jamestown and Yorktown
in celebration of the 400th anniversary
of America at Jamestown 2007.
Transportation will be arranged by the Inn’s
concierge (at purchaser’s expense). Add
in golf for four at the Golden Horseshoe
Golf Club (play either the Gold Course,
designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., or the
Green Course, designed by Rees Jones).
Included are two golf carts for 18 holes, one
bucket of practice balls per person, and
four yardage booklets. Your stay at the Inn
includes breakfast in either the Regency
Room or in your room on the morning of
your departure, as well as dinner for four
in one of the Inn’s four Colonial dining
taverns. From Williamsburg you travel to
nearby Irvington, Virginia, where you will
stay two nights at the Hope and Glory
Inn, rated by Tatler-Cunard Travel Guide
as one of the “101 Best Hotels in the
World.” Accommodations will be in one of
the six quaint English cottages surrounded
by lush grounds and gardens. Your trip to
Irvington includes $250 toward dinner at
the Trick Dog Café, selected by Wine
Spectator magazine as one of its top
restaurants in 2005 and 2006. Ground
passes for four will be available to tour the
great house and historic outbuildings of
the Stratford Plantation, built in 1738 by
Thomas Lee and the birthplace of his greatgrandson General Robert E. Lee. Lunch for
four with wine will be provided. While in
the area you are also invited for cocktails
with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carter Wellford IV
and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Drayton O’Hara at
Sabine Hall, their 18th-century home and
a working plantation in Warsaw, Virginia.
Sabine Hall is steeped in history, and, yes,
George Washington actually slept here!
Enjoy your time as the tour of their home
and gardens will be a special highlight on
your trip to the Northern Neck of Virginia.
