Community Sponsorship Guidelines - $5,000+
July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017
Scope of Work
The Lottery will consider sponsorships ranging from $5,000 - $25,000. Organizations wishing to
submit a sponsorship for less than $4,500 should visit the Lottery’s website for contact and
submittal information about the Community Sponsorship Program.
Who May Apply?
 Registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations
 Qualified tribal and governmental agencies
 Schools, colleges and universities
Sponsor Valuation
The Lottery is interested in partnership opportunities that expand the awareness of its products,
beneficiaries; ensure cultural, ethnic and geographic diversity; as well as communicate the
Lottery’s contributions to the State. In order to reach the widest possible audience, the Lottery is
especially interested in partnerships that offer:
1. Exclusive Arizona Lottery title sponsorships;
2. Multiple, related events under a single sponsorship;
3. Arizona Lottery branded award, scholarships and grants.
The focus of the event should align with one or more of the Lottery’s “Giving Back” pillars:
1. Arts and Education
2. Community Enrichment
3. Economic Development
4. Environmental Conservation
5. Health and Human Services
6. Public Safety
The Lottery is specifically seeking the following types of sponsorships:
1. Community Forums
2. Conferences that are a minimum of two days
3. Year-long program sponsorships which recognize the Lottery for 12 months
4. Breakfast, lunch, or dinners recognizing an organization or person
5. Organizations located in a rural area of Arizona
6. Organizations associated with Lottery beneficiaries.
Reasons the Lottery will not award a sponsorship:
1. The organization does not have 501(c)(3) standing and is not in compliance
2. The organization whose primary business involves liquor, tobacco, sex, online wagering
or underage (21) products and services.
3. The Lottery will not consider events where the target audience is under 21 years of age.
4. The Lottery will not consider events held on junior high, high school or elementary
school campuses.
5. The Lottery will not consider events that are not held in Arizona.
6. The Lottery will not consider events where event proceeds benefit organizations or
programs outside of Arizona.
7. The applying organization’s mission does not align with one of the Arizona Lottery’s six
pillars.
8. The sponsorship funding will primarily be used for operational or administrative costs for
the organization.
9. The sponsorship request is for an individual or youth sports teams or leagues.
The Lottery requires prior approval to release videos or photos of Lottery representatives
speaking at the event.
Types of Recognition, including but not limited to:
Minimum Requirements:
 Arizona Lottery supplied ad in event program
 Arizona Lottery logo in event program, on event invitations, advertisements, press
releases, website with link, etc.
 Mentions of Arizona Lottery sponsorship on social media channels:
o Use of #ArizonaLottery and/or #AZLottery hashtags
o Mentions of @ArizonaLottery (Facebook), @AZLottery (Twitter) and/or
@AZLottery (Instagram)
 Display of Arizona Lottery supplied information and/or videos at the event, if applicable
 Allowance for the Arizona Lottery ticket trolley to be present at outdoor events
Preferred Requirements:
 Partnership opportunities consistent with those offered to other sponsors at the same
sponsorship level
 Acknowledgements of the Lottery’s contributions to the State in event script (i.e.
welcome, opening remarks, closing remarks, etc.)
 Speaking opportunity for the Lottery Executive Director or designee
 Arizona Lottery named scholarship or award
 Arizona Lottery logo on website with a link to Arizona Lottery website
 Arizona Lottery logo, name, social media handles and/or hashtags in interactive
opportunities, e.g. email blasts, e-newsletters, etc.
 Opportunity to distribute Lottery material
Ineligible Applicants:
 Agencies that discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin,
age, medical condition, veteran status, marital status, disability, ancestry, sexual
orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
 Endowment funds or foundations


Religious organizations, churches, and programs that are purely denominational in
purpose.
Sports teams or sporting programs or programs that are primarily recreational in
purpose.
Content Submission
The following documents must be provided with Sponsorship submission:
1. Community Sponsorship Detail Form
2. Community Sponsorship Levels Form (Form must be completed for each level of
sponsorship being proposed)
3. Please provide document proving IRS 501(c)3 status
4. Any supporting attachments and marketing materials
All submissions must be either emailed to [email protected] with the subject line
“[Organization Name]: FY17 Community Sponsorship $5,000+” or mailed to our Phoenix Office

*E-mail and Mailed submissions must be received prior to the submission deadline.
Evaluation
All Community Sponsorship proposal submissions will be evaluated based on the criteria
outlined above. After initial receipt of proposals, the Lottery reserves the right to conduct
discussions for clarification. The Lottery reserves the right to award multiple Community
Sponsorships.
The Communications Specialist will review all sponsorship requests and provide a
recommendation to the Sponsorship Review Committee, which includes members of various
departments.
After review by the Sponsorship Review Committee, sponsorship requests and the committee’s
recommendations will be forwarded to the Director of Products and Marketing for final approval.

 June 22th – Community Sponsorship submission requirements release
 July 15th – Submission deadline
