7TH FLAG FOOTBALL RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
GAME RULES
All players must have flags positioned at their sides of their body.
All players must wear flags on top of their P.E. Shirt
Two teams will be playing each other for the entire class period. There will be three fields of
play within each class.
All games begin with a kickoff using a kicking tee from the 20-yard line (yellow cones).
Any kickoff landing out-of-bounds results in one re-kick from the 20-yard line (yellow cones).
A kickoff landing into the end zone results in a touchback on the 20-yard line.
Teams have four downs to obtain a first down (half way marker) or a touchdown, and may
punt the ball on the 4th down.
Teams must declare if they are punting the ball. (No blocked or fake punts are allowed).
Captains should announce the score after each score.
OFFENSIVE RULES
Teams must have a Quarter Back, Center, Full Back, Wide Receiver on every play.
A huddle can be used between offensive plays. (10-15 sec. time limit)
All players may pass the football anytime, anywhere on the field.
A forward pass that falls incomplete is spotted where the pass was thrown. Center the football
in the middle of the field.
The football may be thrown forward or backwards.
All players are allowed to jump or spin.
Each play must begin with a Center-QB snap exchange.
All players may advance the ball by running or passing.
All players are eligible to catch a pass and must have two feet in bounds.
Players are not allowed to flag guard. The play is over at the spot of the flag guard violation.
(stiff arm).
The QB may only run 1 out of 4 downs unless he is rushed by the defense.
The offense has 5 seconds to run or pass the ball. A loss of down occurs if a team does not
attempt to advance the ball.
DEFENSIVE RULES
Defensive teams are to play man to man coverage.
Players must allow the offensive 5 seconds before rushing the passer. Defensive player
covering the quarter back must count out loud.
All players must line up on their side of the line of scrimmage.
Teams create a defensive stop by the following:
The pulling of a flag from the offensive player with the football.
Forcing a player out of bounds.
If a player with the ball falls to the ground.
A fumble or interception occurs or forcing an incomplete pass.
SCORING
Touchdown = 6 pts.
No Field Goals
Safety = 2pts
Interception = 2pts
PENALTIES
Pass interference = 15 steps
Holding = 10 steps
Illegal Pass Rush = 5 steps
Illegal Procedure =5 steps
Off sides = 5 steps
* A penalty cannot result in a touchdown or safety.
The ball will be placed on the 1 yard line.
