PROMOTIONAL FEATURE | BEAUTY BEYOND
Going beyond beauty
Kirsti Attwood and her team at Beauty Beyond in Winchcombe offer the finest
beauty treatments, but also so much more…
T
he first thing that strikes you as you
walk through the doors of Beauty
Beyond – tucked away in a courtyardstyle setting on Winchcombe’s Bull Lane –
is the aura of calm. The next thing you feel
as you as you’re greeted on reception with
a warm smile as the beauty therapists mill
around is the sense of teamwork and
genuine friendship among the staff. To
discover what drives the business and its
dedicated team, you need only spend a few
minutes chatting with owner Kirsti Attwood.
“I’ve been doing this for 20 years,” she
smiles. “When I was at school, at 14, I knew
exactly what I wanted to do,” she says.
“So when I left I went straight to college
where I achieved a National Diploma in
beauty. I then went to work in Pershore
for two-and-a-half years before coming
here to Winchcombe.”
At a still very tender age Kirsti went to
work as a beauty therapist on cruise ships.
An incredibly glamorous career I suggest,
imagining cocktails on deck and a different
exotic location every day. “It was very hard
work,” she insists. “I worked 12-hour days,
seven days a week, but it was amazing.”
And character building too. During her
time on board, she found herself giving talks
to 2,000 or more people which the 22-yearold took in her stride and added to her
growing list of accomplishments. Her last
ship was the QE2 where, naturally, she
primped and preened the world’s rich and
famous. But she was keen to further her
knowledge and experiences in the field of
beauty, as well as to pass on her discoveries
to others, so she embarked on a degree in
teaching. Her role as a teacher took her to
South Worcestershire College in Evesham,
where she still teaches 10 years on.
When Kirsti bought the salon five years
ago she was teaching three days a week
at the College while working in her salon,
building up her team and loyal clientele
for the remaining four days. The wonderfully
inspiring thing is that she did all this
completely by herself – as a single mum
– and she still shows the energy and
dynamism that obviously made such
things possible.
“I have taught all the girls who work here,
so when I bought the salon five years ago,
two of the girls I had taught previously were
already here, and I brought another two in
straight away.” Kirsti and her team then set
about redecorating the premises and,
three years ago, the whole building was
completely refurbished, creating five
treatment rooms upstairs and a further
four on the ground floor.
All six of the staff at Beauty Beyond are
trained in a wide range of treatments,
including CACI (the non-surgical facelift),
Hydradermie lift (a stimulating facial using
active micro-currents to produce an
immediate lifting effect), Liftosome (a facial
specially developed to treat mature skin),
hot stone massage, reflexology, electrolysis,
aromatherapy and many, many more. The
products used are the finest available too
and include Guinot, Clarins and Decléor,
all of which are stocked in the salon’s shop.
They also offer various packages, including
hen and birthday parties, a range of
wedding packages, and even ‘Little Lady’
parties aimed at girls aged 10 to 15.
And if you want proof of the salon’s
credentials as a high-end provider of the
latest beauty treatments, they have got
through to the finals of the British Beauty
and Spa Awards for the past two years,
acknowledging them as being in the top
five salons in the country. Impressive stuff.
So, if you want the finest pampering from
a small, dedicated and passionate team, it’s
right here on your doorstep. Visit Kirsti and
her girls in Winchcombe and be assured of a
warm welcome, you’re in very good hands.
