Voices and Visions of Afrodescendant Youth.

BlackEconomics.org invites
Afrodescendant youth to prepare
essays for publication in a new
book: Voices and Visions of
Afrodescendant Youth.
Join the effort to write history in
advance and to provide
perspective on Afrodescendants’
21st century future.
BlackEconomics.org issues a national call for essays by and for Afrodescendant youth
ages 18-24. The essays will concern the visions that Afrodescendant youth have for
their future lives: What are the possibilities going forward into the 21st century? What
are the obstacles? What is the expected future outcome?
The essays should be 500 words or less and should be provided in a Microsoft Office
WORD format. The text should follow AP Style Manual requirements. No graphics will
be accepted.
Approximately 30 essays will be selected for publication in Voices and Visions of
Afrodescendant Youth. From this selection, the authors of the three most outstanding
essays will receive an award of $300, $250, or $200. Essays will be evaluated on their
uniqueness yet simplicity of vision, literary eloquence, and realism.
Authors of essays that are selected for publication must certify their age and must sign
a copyright release; see http://www.BlackEconomics.org/BE&Lit/BECTA.docx.
The deadline for submitting the essays is midnight Hawaii Standard Time on February
28, 2011. Essays must be transmitted to [email protected] with the
subject “Voices and Visions Essay.”
This and more information about this Voices and Visions effort is available on the
