Score Reporting - North Atlanta Volleyball Club

North Atlanta Volleyball Club: How to report match scores for your team The new NAVC web site includes the ability to submit match scores for your team through a web interface designed especially for phones and tablets, instead of sending texts to the club. Your scores will be automatically posted on the NAVC web site, as well as being sent via Twitter to all our followers. The web address you need is: http://NorthAtlantaVolleyball.com/scores Our entire club has access to this phone-‐friendly mini-‐site so they can view scores in real time. However, only designated team representatives can sign in and report scores. The initial screen has the option to sign in to report new scores in the navigation bar at the top. Below are options to view scores that have already been reported by tournament, by team, or by date. At the bottom of the screen are the most recently reported scores for all teams and tournaments. Each scoreline includes additional information that can be viewed by expanding the entry with the “details” link. This first screen includes icon information allowing it to be bookmarked or added to the home screen of you iPhone, iPad, or other mobile device. Take a moment to do that before continuing. To report new scores, start by clicking the “Sign in” link in the top bar. Enter either the email address in your profile, or your user name, and then enter your password. None of these fields are case-‐sensitive so don’t worry if your phone likes to automatically capitalize the name you enter. If you don’t know or don’t remember your password, you can have it sent to the email address on file by clicking the “I don’t know my password” link and entering your email address or user name on the next screen. If you don’t know your email address or user name, contact the club. Once signed in, you have additional options to sign out or to update your password using the “Profile” link in the top bar. Reporting a match score is simply a matter of filling out the form presented to you. The “New score report” dropdown defaults to “New” for reporting a score for the first time. If you are reporting an old score from a previous day, change this option so that Twitter followers aren’t confused by the report. The Team: dropdown will list teams for which you have score reporting capabilities. For many of you, that will be a single team, but we do have parents that report scores for multiple teams. The Tournament: dropdown will present a list of all tournaments that NAVC teams attend, in chronological order. Choose the tournament your team is currently attending. The Date: settings will default to the current date, so there is no need to change these unless you are late reporting a score from a past date. The Time: dropdown should be set to the scheduled match time, even if the match started early or late. The Match type: setting allows you to specify if the match was a pool play, tiebreaker, or one of the options in bracket play all the way up to the finals. Use the Quarterfinal, Semifinal, and Final options even if your team is playing in Silver or a lower bracket. Win/Loss: Set to show the match outcome. Scoreline: Always enter our team’s score first. Hyphenate scores and separate each set with a comma and a space. For example, 25-‐23, 20-‐25, 15-‐13 which would be a 2 sets to 1 set win. Opponent club and team name: Please don’t simply enter “KIVA” or “15-‐2” – enter the name of the club and team each time. Example: “KIVA 16-‐Red” or “MAVA 18-‐1”. Optional notes: Leave blank, or add a brief match note about the match, result, future round, or individual highlights. Use complete sentences, proper capitalization and punctuation, as this will be published on the NAVC web site. Above all, use a neutral tone and avoid writing anything you or the club wouldn’t want published on our website. Play next at: Enter what time your next match is, and on which court. If you don’t know, or if it isn’t relevant (such as after your final match) simply leave these fields blank. The “Continue” button will allow you to preview scores before submitting for display on the web site and Twitter. Review your entry, then Click the “Send score” button to finish.
