Cover Letter
Hi, my name is Oskar Stålberg and I am a student at The Game Assembly.
I am applying for internship as a Technical Artist or a 3D Artist during the period august
2012 to april 2013.
The Game Assembly is an advanced vocational education commissioned by the Swedish
game industry and its curriculum is written in collaboration with Massive – a Ubisoft Studio.
The education is 2.5 years long (internship included) and focuses on AAA game development.
At TGA we develop 8 games in 2 years in groups of 4-5 artists and 4-5 programmers, in
genres ranging from point and click to FPS – all in our own self developed game engines.
I love to create, solve problems and produce quality. To focus these passions in game
development came naturally to me as games – second only to creation – always has been my
main interest in life. During my childhood I developed tons of small games in The Games
Factory on my own; in the army I learned collaboration, leadership, deadlines and discipline;
at TGA I learned to combine these traits, working with agile development and owning my
own professional development.
I'm not a character artist, but I give everything I produce character - whether it's a waste bin, a
tree or a robot. In my own design I strive for clarity and attitude in the big shapes and varied
and interesting clusters of detail in the small shapes.
I'm not a programmer, but I have a very good understanding of how games work. With my
interest in shading and my intuitive problem-solving I have worked close with programmers
in the development and debugging of tools, graphical solutions and shaders at TGA.
My favorite place to be is in the borderlands between technology and aesthetics – two areas
which I believe overlap considerably. Learning to understand the logic and structure that
make things look good helps me to produce better looking, smarter and faster content, with
higher and higher quality.
Concluded passions:
Details, particle effects, shading/lightning, solutions, efficiency.
I am looking forward toward hearing from you.
