Selection Criteria Grid Area Current Rule Winning percentage. Win % is defined as Division I wins divided by total Division I matches contested at the designated weight class on the NCAA entry form. Additional Comments Matches against non-DI opponents do not count toward winning percentage. Matches at a lower or higher weight are also excluded from the calculation. Minimum number of Division I matches for winning percentage. Must have a minimum of eight Division I matches at the designated weight class on the NCAA entry form to have a calculated winning percentage. Wrestler could still be eligible for an at-large selection with less than eight matches as long as they have two of the other bronze criteria. The wrestler however, will not have a calculated winning percentage for at-large selection criteria. RPI Must have 17 Division I matches at the designated weight class on the NCAA entry form to have a calculated RPI. Forfeits and medical forfeits wins and losses are excluded from the 17 match count. Coaches ranking. Five Division I matches by first coaches ranking (and one match in last 30 days); five Division I matches by second coaches ranking (and one match in last 30 days); five Division I matches by third coaches ranking (and one match in last 30 days). A wrestler must have wrestled in one match in the 30 days preceding the ranking period. A forfeit and medical forfeit win count towards win total and match in 30 days. Medical forfeit loss is excluded. Earning an allocated spot for the conference. Minimum number of matches needed to earn an allocation for conference. A wrestler must earn either a gold or silver standard to earn an allocated spot for the conference at the designated weight class on the NCAA entry form page. A gold standard wrestler means a wrestler met the threshold level in winning percentage, RPI and coaches ranking. A silver standard wrestler means the wrestler met the threshold level in two of the three criteria of winning percentage, RPI and coaches ranking. Eight Division I matches at the designated weight class on the NCAA entry form. A wrestler needs eight matches due to the minimum needed for winning percentage. A wrestler with less than eight would not be eligible for the winning percentage and RPI which means they could not meet two of the three standards. A wrestler DOES NOT need 17 matches to earn an allocation spot, because the wrestler could earn a spot by meeting the threshold in winning percentage and coaches ranking. Allocation of automatic qualifiers. The committee will allocate the number of eligible automatic qualifiers of the 330 championships field using the primary formula. Secondary criteria (bronze criteria). Wrestlers that meet two or more of the 'bronze' criteria will be labeled bronze standard and eligible for atlarge selection. Standards include: .700 overall winning percentage, top 33 RPI (taken after the qualifying tournaments), top 33 coaches ranking; one win against a wrestler receiving AQ via an earned position (preallocated); qualifying event placement one below AQ. Each weight class could have a different formula applied to reach up to 30 wrestlers per weight class. Threshold levels may slide up or down in concert to achieve a total number of automatic qualifiers, using the winning percentage as the fixed guide. A win against a wrestler receiving automatic qualification must be against an opponent in a qualifying tournament that had an earned automatic qualification through a gold or silver standard. http://documentcenter.ncaa.org/cc/champs/CT/WrestlingDI/DocsWrestlingDI/DI_Wrestling_Qualifying_Grid_100114_AH_hw.docx
