Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Bill Harrison at 9:34 a.m.

Approval of Minutes
The minutes from the June 27th, 2013 meeting were adjusted and the names/ positions of the
2013-2014 professional council were added. They will be approved and evaluated at August
14th meeting.
Treasurer’s Report
Mary Rhodes, Treasurer reported as of June 30, 2013, savings $318.09 and in checking $0.00
for a total of $318.09.
SACS Visit by Nancy Morgan
SACS visit team coming Sept 24-26, 2013. They will visit multiple campuses and speak and
interview faculty members and students.
Dr. Virginia Carson visited DSC last week as a preliminary visit.
The SACS team will be on the Daytona campus on Tuesday and all day Wednesday. Exit
conference Thursday morning-approximately 9am. Everyone is invited to the exit conference.
QEP- Learn to SOAR- targeting first time in college students who are at risk at failing the
gateway course, specifically looking at ENC1101. Students will take a 1 credit hour student
success course (SLS1101) that will be paired with ENC1101 to utilize the academic resources.
SLS1101-College Resources projected progress
Spring 2014-Pilot test
Fall 2014-Face to Face-Daytona Campus
Spring 2015- Will be available on all other DSC campuses
The SLS course is currently not a requirement for students to take and is a part of the state
common course numbering system.
Sub-Sandwich Sale
August 8th and 9th- Front of Cafeteria- 11am-1pm
Need volunteers to help make the subs.
Help Local Animal Rescue Supplies Drive
August 14th 10:30- Donate for Animal Rescue
If you donate to animal rescue you will receive a raffle ticket to win a raffle basket.
Donations for the Raffle Basket
If you would like to contribute to the raffle basket-Jo-Ann is taking donations.
Set up location at the theater and it is during welcome back-August 14th.
Committee Updates

August 1st reminder DSC is going Tobacco free- grant is helping with transition to tobacco free
campaign. Classes are available “Quit Smoking Now”.

New Volleyball Team will arrive on Monday. Season starts August 1st.
First home game is Tuesday August 27th.Expedition game will start at 4:30. Free t-shirt to 1st
100 fans. Game will be available online. http://www.daytonastate.edu/womensvb/
American Heart Walk-Friday September 27th- Embry Riddle University- Starts at 4 with the walk
at 5.
Tobacco Free Campus- If someone is smoking on campus (and you want to) please just
remind/ inform the individual of the policy. Do not confront.
The September meeting will possibly have Laurie Van Dusen as a special guest for health care
information.
