Purbeck 10K Race Information for Competitors Welcome Purbeck Runners’ are delighted to host the Purbeck 10k taking place for the 5th time at Norden Park & Ride, Corfe Castle on Friday 17th June 2016 with a 7:30pm start time. The proceeds from the event will go to this year’s supported charities, Heroes Haven (Swanage), Youth Cancer Trust, Bournemouth, Studland Defibrillator Appeal, Forest Holme Hospice, Swanage Pier and Julia’s House. The race is licensed by and is run under UKA rules, Licence number: 2016/23459. Participants must be 15 years or older on race day. Transfers Number transfers are available via fullonsport.com up to a week before the event, i.e. 10th June. NO RACE ENTRIES or NUMBER SWAPS on the day. Please do not compromise your safety or the authenticity of the results by attempting unofficial number swaps. Directions & Location Race HQ is located at Norden Park & Ride; o Postcode: BH20 5DW o Sat Nav Co-ords: 50°38’44”N 02°03’53”W Located just off the A351 north of Corfe Castle, the FREE car park has space to park 350+ vehicles. To find the car park, follow the brown signs with the steam train logo. When you turn off the roundabout look out for the Car Park Marshals directing you into and out of the CAR PARKS; please follow the Marshal's instructions and directions. Please share cars where possible. The car park is open from 5:30pm until 10pm. Beware of pedestrians or runners when arriving and leaving the car park. Follow the directions of Marshals when leaving the car park. Arrive in plenty of time – allow time to park and walk to registration. Cycle Racks There are cycle racks are located next to the Norden Park and Ride main toilet block. Cyclists are requested to dismount and use the pedestrian entrance. Cycles are left are the owner’s risk. Before you arrive Please arrive ready to race; there are no changing facilities available. Please ensure that you are fit to compete. You are advised not to run if you are unwell on the day or a few days prior to the race. Toilets Please bring photo identification – you may be asked to present it in order to collect your number. There are plenty of toilets located at the Norden Park and Ride main toilet block and at the entrance to the race village. Registration Registration is located in the race village, which is a five minute walk from the car park. Registration will be open at 5:45 pm and close at 7pm. When collecting your race numbers and timing chips you will be asked for your name and date of birth; we reserve the right to request photo ID to confirm your identity. Please complete the medical details on the reverse of your running number before pinning the number to front of your running vest/top. Do not fold, cut or mutilate your running number. Fit the timing chip to your shoe following the instructions available at registration. Bag Drop Off The Bag Drop Off is located next to Registration within the race village for the use of runners only. You will need to present your race number in order to retrieve to your bag. Bags are left are the owner’s risk. Race Village The Race Village includes a BBQ, Coffee stall, Bar, Ice Cream stand, massage facilities and charity displays. The Race Village is a NO SMOKING area. The Race The course is accurately measured; a map of the course and SEAA Course Measurement Certificate Number: 12/031 are available in the race village. Please hydrate well before the race. There are two water stations located at approximately 3.5km and 6.5 km; please make use of them, particularly if it is unusually hot. The majority of the route is closed to traffic however as you are running on country lanes you may encounter livestock, wildlife, cyclists and there may be small potholes (and puddles if it rains). Please try not to discard empty gel packs, water bottles and the like on the route; please leave them by Kilometre Markers/Route Markers or keep them until you get to the water stations and leave them there. The route is well marshaled; look out for them and follow their instructions. Please note this is a headphone/ear-phone free race. Use of headphones/earphones will result in disqualification. The use of GPS devices including Smartphone Apps is permitted. There is a Memento & Goody Bag for all finishers. Should you decide to drop out of the race please inform a Marshal before you leave the area. This will avoid the race being spoilt by an unnecessary search for a competitor who has simply left the area. Results The race is chip timed with live results screen and printer to get your result on the day. You will have to Wednesday 22 June to query the provisional race results via Purbeck Runners website. Prizes Provisional race results should be available on Friday (race day evening) at chiptimingresults.co.uk. Thereafter the final results will be published on Purbeck Runners' website. Overall prizes are awarded to the first three males and first three females. Team prizes are awarded to the first male team (4 to count) and first female team (3 to count). A first prize will be awarded in the following age categories; Male MU21, MV40, MV50, MV60 and Female FU21, FV35, FV45, FV55. Please Note: 1 prize per runner (excluding team prizes), priority given to overall prizes. Photography Finally There will be photographers at the start, along the course and at the finish.
