• For 2011 ATAC FTU’s delivered 202 Powered Pilot Scholarship (PPS)
Canada wide an increase of 12 PPS’ over last year
• 192 Cadets successfully achieved their licenses in the 6 week program
• New ACLC Power Familial Pilot Upgrade Program has introduced this fall
with ATAC schools exclusively delivering the $2500 Industry scholarships to
worthy cadets Canada wide
• The generosity of ATAC companies is supporting one $2500 Scholarship
awarded this AGM to WO1 Corinna Schmidt.

Training Of International Pilots in Canada Threatened
•Imminent changes on the horizon for issuance of Foreign Student Study
Permits
•Over 38% of commercial pilots trained in Canada are foreigners
•DFAIT Edu-Brand division has agreed to aid CIC to identify quality FTU’s
•ATAC is lobbying Transport Canada for assistance and communicating our
message to the ministers of education and all agencies involved.

Dangerous Goods Update
• ATAC DG committe working on resurrecting the Dangerous Goods Public
Awareness Committee with Transport Canada
•Lithium batteries at the top of ICAO’s agenda
•The Universal Postal Union in Europe modified its charter to permit lithium
batteries in equipment to be permitted in the post
•TC reports on re-write of Part 12 – Air in our domestic regulations is currently
shown as future work, no definitive timelines . ATAC played a major role in the
initial draft.

National Occupational Standards for Commercial Pilots
•Project launch June 2010 with official ATAC launch at Flight Training
session Tuesday
•Pilot Occupational Standard will apply to any commercial pilot flying for
hire regardless of aircraft type
•One standard with subsets of the competencies required by various types
of flying activities and subsets of air operations
•Standard confirms existing requirements, confirms competencies for air
operators, help recruitment consistency, reduces transition costs, supports
curricula development and helps students identify career requisites.
