Field Associate – Demand Side Management
Compensation: $15.21 - $19.04 per hour (up to 40 hours per week, temporary, appointments typically
start at step 1 of the compensation range).
The Redwood Coast Energy Authority is currently recruiting a Field Associate to be part of our Demand
Side Management team.

energy professionals. Learn energy efficiency practices and solutions, learn the roles different entities
play in the industry, and expand your professional network. Appointments may vary between 20 to 40
hours per week. This position starts as a 6-month appointment with the potential for extension up to 2
years contingent upon budget and performance.
The Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) is a joint powers agency located in Eureka, California.
RCEA was formed by local governments to develop and implement sustainable energy initiatives that
reduce energy demand, increase energy efficiency, and advance the use of clean, efficient and
renewable resources available in the region. The latest development for RCEA is the launch of our
Community Choice Energy program through which we are procuring electricity for Humboldt County rate
payers. RCEA’s Demand Side Management (DSM) team implements energy efficiency, planning, and
distributed energy projects throughout Humboldt County through a Local Government and Community
Partnership with Pacific Gas & Electric Company and state Proposition 39 funding.
This role is an external facing position responsible for building and maintaining relationships with
business owners and residents. The primary duties of the Field Associate role on the DSM team are
to perform tubular and screw-based lighting installations in businesses and homes, perform
residential energy assessments, complete customer estimates/ receipts and take payments, track
and enter project data, follow strict program guidelines, promote services, and complete
reporting. Secondary duties may include outreach activities, and assisting with implementation of
complex energy efficiency projects. Field Associates maintain a steady schedule of field-based
activities for which the use of a personal vehicle is required. Installations do not involve electrical work,
but will require regular use of ladders and basic hand tools.
Candidates with experience in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply: lighting installations,
LED lighting specs, building science principles, business, outreach, sales, project coordination, energy
efficiency, entrepreneurship, or program implementation. Applicants with limited energy experience but
are otherwise well-qualified will be considered. Candidates with the following characteristics may excel in
this role: has a passion for community service, has a self-starter mentality, is goal-driven, is projectoriented, works well independently, learns quickly, easily adapts to changes, and is customer-service
oriented and sociable.
