Policies and Procedures
1. Equity Policy Statement.
1.1. The Club is committed to ensuring that equity is incorporated
across all aspects of it development. In doing so it acknowledges
and adopts the following Sport England definition of sports equity:
Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising
inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the
culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible
to everyone in society.

The club respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and
will treat everyone equally within the contexts of the sport,
regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality
or socio/economic status.
The club is committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their
sport in an environment free from threat, intimidation, harassment
and abuse.
All club members have a responsibility to oppose discriminatory
behaviour and promote equality of opportunity.
The club will deal with any incidence of discriminatory behaviour
seriously according to the Club’s disciplinary procedures, as
outlined in the Constitution.
2. Health and Safety Policy.
2.1. Playing members and officials will be covered by insurance
provided by Basketball England, a copy of which will be available
on request.
2.2. Players have a duty of care towards other players and should not
indulge in dangerous play.
2.3. During training sessions and matches, care should be taken to
ensure that bags, benches, etc, are not placed in a position which
might cause a hazard.
2.4. When travelling to away games, drivers have a responsibility of
care towards those in their cars.
2.5. First aid facilities and a trained first aider are available at all times at
our training and home match venue, Market Harborough Leisure
Centre.
2.6. A basic first aid kit will be carried to away matches.

A list of contact numbers will be kept at Junior sessions in case a
child is injured while playing (see child protection policy). A phone
is always available in Market Harborough Leisure Centre. In the
case of away games, the person in charge should ensure that a
mobile phone is available.
All club members are asked to provide details of any medical
condition (e.g. diabetes) they have which might lead to them being
taken ill while playing.
If Junior members are travelling to matches, permission will be
sought from parents beforehand.

4. Code of Conduct for Club Coaches, Officials and Volunteer
Helpers.
4.1. Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the
development of performance.
4.2. Develop an appropriate working relationship with performers, based
on mutual trust and respect.
4.3. Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and
experience of those taking part.
4.4. Promote the positive aspects of sport (e.g. fair play).
4.5. Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.
4.6. Follow the national guidelines laid down by the Basketball England
(BE).
4.7. Never exert undue influence over performers to gain personal
benefit or reward.
4.8. Never condone rule violations, rough play or use of prohibited
substances.
4.9. Encourage performers to value their performances and not just
results.
5. Code of Conduct for Parents/Guardians.
5.1. Please encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them
and discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
5.2. Help your child to recognise good performance, not just the result of
a game.
5.3. Support your child’s involvement, do not force him/her to take part
and never punish him/her for losing or making mistakes.
5.4. Set a good example by recognising fair play, applauding the good
performance of all players and publicly accepting officials’
judgments.
5.5. Use correct and proper language at all times.
6. Rules for Junior Players.
6.1. You must play within the rules and respect officials and their
decisions.
6.2. You must respect your opponents.
6.3. You must wear suitable kit (i.e. sports shoes, shorts, ‘T’ shirt or
vest).
6.4. You must pay any fees promptly.
6.5. You may not smoke or consume alcohol or any kind of drugs while
at training or while representing the club elsewhere.
7. Rules for Senior Players.
7.1. As for Juniors (above) except for a modification of point 5; smoking
and consuming of alcohol in moderation is permitted while
representing the club after matches, in a social setting.
