PLAYER’S CODE OF CONDUCT
This Code of Conduct has been created in an effort to enhance the reasons for
players to participate in softball, whilst ensuring that player’s safety and wellbeing is
maintained and the integrity of Pirates Softball Club WA Inc remains intact.
Players shall:





















Operate within the codes and policies set up by Pirates Softball Club WA Inc
and encourage all others to do so
Operate within the rules and spirit of the game and at the direction of the
officials and your coach.
Treat officials (eg umpires) and non-playing officials (eg. coaches and scorers)
with respect. Accept the decisions that are made by those officials,
regardless of your interpretation of the rule or the decision.
Treat your own team mates and players of competing teams with respect.
If you disagree with a decision of an official, respectfully approach your coach
and allow them the opportunity to request clarification of the rule or decision
from the official.
Notify your coach of any injury or illness before taking the diamond or
commencing training.
Refrain from the use of abusive or offensive language including sledging.
Treat your own equipment and the club’s equipment with respect.
Treat your surrounds, the dugout and club facilities with respect.
Be mindful of how your actions affect the safety, wellbeing and comfort of
those around you, including other players, spectators and officials.
Refrain from taking the diamond or the training ground when intoxicated or
under the influence of alcohol, or prescription or non-prescription medication
that may impede your ability to play.
Always encourage other team mates by giving positive feedback in a fair and
respectful manner.
Arrive at training and at games on time and ready to train, warm-up or play.
Help other players and coaches to set up and pack up the equipment
Honour commitments that you have made to your team and coach (eg.
attend to your umpiring or canteen duties).
Treat all players and officials with respect regardless of their gender,
sexuality, age, ability, nationality, cultural background or religious beliefs.
Do not take unfair advantage of another player.
Wear your full uniform (eg. correct hat, pants, socks, shorts and shirt) with
pride and in keeping with the Regulations of Pirates Softball Club WA Inc.
Pay your fees on time
Make all players feel welcome, particularly new players
Enhance the skill level, safety and enjoyment of new players by offering
assistance if and where required and with the input or consent of the coach

OFFICIAL’S CODE OF CONDUCT
This Code of Conduct has been created in an effort to enhance quality of umpires
and scorers of softball, improve the player’s understanding of the rules of the game
and maintain the integrity of Pirates Softball Club WA Inc.
Officials shall:

















Operate within the codes and policies set up by Pirates Softball Club WA Inc
and encourage all others to do so
Operate within the rules and the spirit of the game
Show respect to other officials and players
Explain the rules and your interpretation of those rules to players, coaches
and other officials if required
Ensure you maintain your accreditation and keep apprised of any rule
changes
Umpire or score in line with the skill level of the players involved
Be consistent, objective and courteous when scoring or making decisions
Condemn unsportsmanlike conduct and promote respect to all players and
officials
Arrive at the game on time and ready to commence your duties
Wear your club shirt and hat (if you are a scorer) or full safety apparel (if you
are an umpire)
Ensure the safety of players and other officials is maintained above all other
issues
Treat your equipment and the club’s equipment with respect
Treat your surrounds, the dugout and the club facilities with respect
Be mindful of how your actions affect the safety, wellbeing and comfort of
those around you, including players, spectators and other officials.
Refrain from attending to your duties when intoxicated or under the
influence of alcohol, or any prescription or non-prescription medication that
may impede your ability to attend to your duties.

COACH’S CODE OF CONDUCT
This Code of Conduct has been created in an effort to enhance quality of coaches of
softball, improve the player’s ability and understanding of the rules and tactics of the
game whilst maintaining the integrity of Pirates Softball Club WA Inc.
Coach’s shall:




















Operate within the codes and policies set up by Pirates Softball Club WA Inc
and encourage all others to do so
Operate within the rules and the spirit of the game
Show respect to other coaches, officials and players
Ensure that any physical contact with another person is appropriate to the
situation and is solely to enhance the player’s skill level
Explain the rules and your interpretation of those rules to players and cocoaches
Ensure you maintain your accreditation and keep apprised of any rule
changes
Condemn unsportsmanlike conduct and promote respect to all players and
officials
Arrive at the game on time and ready to commence your duties
Wear your club shirt and hat
Ensure the safety of players, spectators and officials is maintained above all
other issues
Treat your equipment and the club’s equipment with respect
Treat your surrounds, the dugout and the club facilities with respect
Be mindful of how your actions affect the safety, wellbeing and comfort of
those around you, including players, spectators and other officials.

PARENT’S CODE OF CONDUCT
This Code of Conduct has been created in an effort to enhance the enjoyment of the
sport as a whole, enhance the enjoyment and safety of children involved in the sport
and maintain the integrity of Pirates Softball Club WA Inc.
Parents shall:










Operate within the codes and policies set up by Pirates Softball Club WA Inc
and encourage all others to do so
Display sportsmanlike and appropriate behaviour and encourage others to do
so
Condemn unsportsmanlike conduct and promote respect to all players,
coaches and officials
Display responsible behaviour in relation to alcohol and drug
Be mindful of how your actions affect the safety, wellbeing and comfort of
those around you, including players, spectators and other officials.
Treat all players, other parents, spectators and officials with respect
regardless of their gender, sexuality, age, ability, nationality, cultural
background or religious beliefs.
Refrain from the use of abusive or offensive language including sledging.
Always encourage players by giving positive feedback in a fair and respectful
manner.
Ensure that the safety and wellbeing of all children (under the age of 18
years) is held above all other concerns
Offer assistance to the coach as and when required (including packing up and
setting up equipment)

COMMITTEE MEMBER’S
CODE OF CONDUCT
This Code of Conduct has been created in an effort to ensure that all members of
Pirates Softball Club WA Inc are treated fairly, that the operations of the club are
placed above personal gain and that the integrity of Pirates Softball Club WA Inc
remains intact.
Committee members shall:













Operate within the codes and policies set up by Pirates Softball Club WA Inc
and encourage all others to do so
Be mindful of how your actions affect the wellbeing and comfort of those
around you, including players, spectators, officials and other committee
members
Maintain confidentiality where required
Act with honesty, integrity and objectivity and in the best interests of the club
and the sport as a whole
Support coaches and officials to improve their skill set and competencies
Ensure that any information acquired or any advantage gained from the
committee position is not used improperly
Conduct club responsibilities with due care, diligence and competence
Refrain from attending to your committee duties whilst under the influence
or intoxicated by alcohol, prescription and non-prescription drugs
Respect the opinions of all other committee members and allow other
committee members to voice their opinions freely and without ridicule
Treat all club members, officials, parents and spectators with respect
regardless of their gender, sexuality, age, ability, nationality, cultural
background or religious beliefs
Honour and fulfil the commitment that you have made to the club
Ensure that all tasks assigned in your Job Description Form are fulfilled
Prepare reports for the committee for submission at the Annual General
Meeting
