Minor Fouls
Not dangerous
Free Position: Offending player 4 metres away in the direction from which she approached.
Body Ball
Gaining a distinct advantage by controlling the ball with the body.
Empty Crosse Check
Checking the Crosse before it makes contact with the ball.
Held Crosse
Not releasing the Crosse after a check.
Restraining Line

Swipe
An uncontrolled attempt to check an opponent’s Crosse.

Blocking / Pushing /
Gaining an advantage by making contact with an opponent.
Tripping
Blocking is moving into the path of a player without giving her time and
space to stop or change direction.
Pushing is pushing the opponent with hand or body.
Tripping is illegal whether it is a deliberate trip or otherwise.
Charging
Gaining an advantage by making contact with an opponent who has
established a legal defensive position.
Dangerous Check / Play
Any check towards the body or play that endangers a player’s safety.
Dangerous Shot
Uncontrolled: judged on distance, force and placement of the shot.
Held Crosse
Not releasing the Crosse after a check causing the player to fall off balance.
Illegal Cradle / Protect
Holding the Crosse near the face or body making a legal check from a good
the Crosse
and legal defensive position, impossible.
Illegal Pick
Setting a pick outside the opponent’s VISUAL FIELD; not giving the
opponent time and / or space to change direction.
Obstruction of Free
A defender preventing a shot on goal by standing in the 15m Fan and not

marking an attacker within 1.5m, whilst denying the attacker the
opportunity to shoot safely.
Three Seconds
While inside the 11m marking area, a defender fails to be within 1.5m of
her opponent or double teams a non ball carrier for more then 3 seconds. She can
legally mark the player directly behind goal.
Warding
Using the arm to prevent a check.
Boundary / Out of Bounds
When a shot or deflected shot goes out of bounds, the player closest to the ball when it crosses the
boundary will be awarded possession.
In all other boundary balls, when a player in possession of the ball carries, propels or is the last to touch
the ball before it goes out of bounds, the opponent will be awarded the ball 4M from the boundary.
Players may not take an active part in the game when out of bounds.
The side and end lines are out of play.
Advantage Situations
Indicates that a foul has been seen, but play is continued to give the attack the advantage
Foul within 15m Fan on a scoring play
Umpire raises yellow flag and calls “Flag”.
Play continues until the scoring play is over. i.e. a shot is taken; Attack team fails to continue continuous
effort towards goal; Defence commits a foul that requires play to be stopped; Attack team fouls; Attack
teams loses possession.
Midfield Foul
Umpires holds arm straight out in direction of the goal and calls “Advantage”.
The player with ball must break clear of the defender or pass the ball cleanly.
