MEETING CALLED TO ORDER:
7.
President Marty called the meeting to
order. We all said the Pledge of Allegiance, and
Sam led us in prayer. Elaine provided us with
the words to “If you Miss the Train I’m On…”
Discussion followed as to whether it was from
“Peter, Paul, and Mary” or the “Kingston
Trio.”
Visiting Rotarians included Bob Reeves
and our Honorary Rotarian Fern. Don
Barnstein from Santa Rosa dropped in as well.
Welcome!!
There were no guests of Rotarians.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. Herman announced that on 10/3 there
would be an Open House for the
community at the Sheriff’s Sub Station.
There will be complimentary soft
drinks and hot dogs. There are 22
deputies, 2 sergeants, and 2 full-time
CHP officers assigned to the sub station.
2. Chuck informed Rotary that there is a
need to purchase a BBQ of our own for
these events.
3. Michael D. reminded us of the El
Molino High School Hall of Fame
Banquet in Healdsburg on October 27th.
Sign-up sheet was circulated.
4. Jill announced that the First Fabulous
Friday will be held at River’s End on
10/5. Sign-up sheet will be circulated
next week.
5. Ed reported that the Spaghetti Feed
held last Saturday at the Guerneville
Community Church to benefit the
Interfaith Homeless Shelter was a great
success. $2000 was made. He
appreciated the Rotarians that attended.
Rich complained that Lyn talked too
much.
Chuck alerted us that next week he
would be acting as Sergeant-at-Arms
and all rules would be enforced!!! BUT,
Candy bars would be accepted as a
bribe.
Phil complained that the toilet in his
van does not work. Since P. Marty sold
it to him, he should fix it! Marty
advised him to take it out of the box!!
Rich finished the announcements with
the info that: he worked all weekend;
the Raiders won, and the 49’ers lost!!
How did they win? They had MORE
points!! (This reporter is tired!!)
RAFFLE:
Lyn donated chocolate bars for the
raffle. There were two drawings, and
Herman and MT won! No winning playing
card was drawn.
FINES!
Sam was fined $2 because the Yankees
are two games out. Bob Reeves was fined
$10 for allegedly paying for his dinner with
½ of a $1 bill. Bob said that he gave both
halves, and paid for his dinner as well!
Nick was fined $10 for blinding Marty with
his flash and missing one meeting. Elaine
was fined $10 for having such an infections
laugh. Lyn and Donna were fined $20, but
Donna said that she would pay $1, and Lyn
could pay $10! Mike D. was fined $10, but
this reported missed why.

SPEAKER:
Bob Pesavento of PESAVENTO
APPRAISALS, SONOMA COUNTY, gave a very
informative talk on how appraisals work in the real
estate market. He provided us with a sample appraisal
comparing four properties. He said that there were
four things the appraiser does when he looks at
property:
1.
Research on the property.
2.
Measure the house
3.
Look at the house and the surrounding
structures
4.
“Comps”—what are the houses in the area
doing?
Bob shared that Fannie Mae doesn’t like
septic, gravel roads, or wood heat. So, Page 4
of the appraisal is the comment page that
explains all of that. Question and answer
session followed.
