CULINARY ARTS 1
JULY 16–21, 2017
WHEN TO ARRIVE
Camp check-in for all campers is on Sunday, July 16 between 2 and 4 p.m. in the Welcome Center.
There will be an evening service, meal and Culinary Arts session on Sunday evening that you won’t
want to miss!
If you are making airline reservations, we suggest that you plan your arrival time before
4 p.m. on Sunday. For free shuttle transportation from the Greenville-Spartanburg International
Airport (GSP), please email your flight itinerary to [email protected] at least seven days
before your camp begins.
Day campers may be dropped off at the Culinary Arts Building at 9 a.m., Monday–Friday.
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARRIVE
When you arrive on campus, follow the signs to the Welcome Center. Our camp counselors will give
you your camp schedule, room assignment (for those staying overnight) and camp T-shirt. If you
have a camp balance, you can take care of it at this time.
After receiving your materials, overnight campers can head to the residence hall to get settled in.
Day campers will have some free time in The Den until camp officially begins!
WHEN TO DEPART
Day campers may be picked up each day after the final scheduled event. On Wednesday campers
will enjoy a fun highlight of our camp experience, the Bruins Bash, from 7 to 9 p.m.
The Culinary Arts 1 Camp will end on Friday, July 21 at 11:30 a.m. Parents can pick up their
campers at the Culinary Arts Building.
If you are making airline reservations, we suggest that you make your departure time at least two
hours following the end of camp.

WHAT TO BRING
Overnight campers should bring bedding (either a sleeping bag or bedding for a twin bed), pillow,
towels and toiletries.
Campers should bring a Bible, notebook and pencil for daily Bible challenges and devotional
sessions.
Phones may be used at any time during the week of camp.
A modest amount of spending money is suggested for The Den, vending machines and Bruins Shop.
Please note: BJU cannot be responsible for money, valuables or personal articles.
WHAT TO WEAR
Kitchen: Because we are in a kitchen setting, it is important to dress appropriately. All campers
should wear closed-toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals) while in the kitchen. Please wear
loose-fitting pants that can get greasy. We will also take a field trip that will include a fair
amount of walking, so comfortable shoes should be considered.
Girls: For general camp activities, knee-length shorts or pants (yoga-type pants would not be
appropriate) are normal camp attire.
Clothing with a low neckline in front or back should not be worn (tank tops are not appropriate).
The midriff area should be covered at all times (including when sitting down or bending over). For
those wishing to take part in the pool activities, please bring appropriate swimwear.
Guys: For general camp activities, knee-length shorts or pants with T-shirts are normal camp
attire. For those wishing to take part in the pool activities, please bring appropriate swimwear.
