single strategy - Cumbria County Council

Single Community Strategy
for Cumbria
Developing the Strategy
What? (1)
• Statutory requirements for local authorities.
• Previous picture in Cumbria – 6 sustainable
community strategies
• Cumbria Leadership Forum and Cumbria Chief
Executives’ Group agreed that the route for
Cumbria is to adopt a single community strategy
• The Health Inequalities Strategy for Cumbria
What? (2)
• Fundamentally however, the single strategy
will be:
– A strategy ‘owned’ by organisations across the
county – the strategy being the single expression
of the vision for Cumbria
– A strategy which reflects stakeholder input, based
on a shared evidence base for Cumbria
What? (3)
• Ultimately:
– The single Community Strategy will express
the outcomes we want to achieve to improve
people’s lives in Cumbria over the next 20
years
– Agree and implement a delivery framework
with partners working together to achieve
these outcomes

Outcomes for people and places in Cumbria
Locality context
Different issues in different parts of the county
For example:
– ‘Housing is an issue in Cumbria’
– ‘In area x the issues are about affordability’
– ‘In area y the issues are about condition of housing
stock’
Why?
• Simplify strategic framework in Cumbria ‘strategy rationalisation’
• Contribute to a ‘single voice’ for Cumbria
• Create clear links between aspirations for
the county and the delivery of services in
localities
Innovation
• Cumbria – a single strategy, not just a
single document
• Opportunity for Cumbria to lead the way
nationally
