The parent’s work – what tools do they use? The actor’s tools – voice and body. Loud voice, large movements. Each to choose an animal. Body = imitate animal’s motion/stance. Audience to guess the animal. Voice = imitate animal’s noise. Audience to guess the animal. Game: Traffic Explain ‘still pictures’. Groups of six. Lights. Create three still pictures on the Each group theme of friends, then three on the member to finish theme of bullying. The audience, whilst watching the scenes, to think of the scene’s better qualities and what could be improved Game: Wink Murder Workshop: ‘Acting Rules’. Explain the ‘rules’ when acting e.g. don’t turn your back on the audience, listen to the other characters and respond to them, no standing in front of others (blocking), using the arm/leg furthest from audience. Groups – create scene on the theme of friends, bearing in mind the rules discussed. CLOSE Game: Splat RAISE WORK SCHEME by MANON WYN WILLIAMS Workshop 4 Workshop 5 Workshop 6 Game: Master and Servant Game: All Aboard’ Workshop: ‘Silent Movie’. What is a ‘silent movie’? No talking – movement only – actors must convey the story through large movements only. In pairs, create a scene on a theme of their choice. Think of location, who they are, and a story. Rehearse two versions – one as a ‘silent movie’, the other with dialogue. Perform the wordless version to the full group, with them guessing the story. Then show the version with dialogue – how accurate were they? Game: Master and Servant Game: Master and Servant Game: Train Stations Bring an object – (no talking) members must pretend the object is something else by e.g. stroking it. Audience to guess the object’s identity. In groups, create a special machine, with the children pretending to be different parts of the machine. Must consider the work of the machine, how the different parts move and work together, and think of the noise different parts make. Whilst groups work on this, one group at a time starts to rehearse parts of the script under my direction. (Share scripts to groups.) Each group given chance to perform their machine. Game: Wink Murder Game: Fruit Salad Game: send a pulse, clap or action around the circle. The action/clap to become increasingly complex. In groups, create an advert. Tell them the product they will be advertising – they must think of a good idea to sell it and to persuade people to buy. Think of a jingle for the advert. Whilst groups work on this, one group at a time starts to rehearse parts of the script under my direction. Each group given chance to perform their advert. Each member to think of someone famous to be on the phone. Give clues to the rest of the group, who must guess. Finish the sentence: ‘I’m so happy, I could...’ Split into two groups ‘I went to the shop and I bought...’ Last rehearsal of the performance In pairs, A + B, think of two short, Each group given chance to simple stories. For the first story, A will perform their work. be telling the story to the audience and B acting it out at the same time. For the second story, swap, with B telling the story and A acting. Whilst groups work on this, one group at a time starts to rehearse parts of the script under my direction. Game: Sausage (answer every question by saying ‘Sausage’!) In small groups, create a scene on a theme of their choice, but containing the words “Why did you do that?” Create the story around those words. Whilst groups work on this, one group at a time starts to rehearse parts of the script under my direction. Rehearse the whole performance at least twice. All get a chance to watch the other groups perform. Each group given chance to perform their work. Game: Wink Murder Run through the notes made whilst watching the rehearsals – how to improve by next week, any advice etc Evaluation: what have they learnt over the past weeks? Have they enjoyed? What did they enjoy most/least? Share out questionnaires. A game of their choice. Small audience invited to see final performance, and record the performance. A game of their choice
