mind the rules discussed.

Workshop: ‘Silent Movie’. What is a
‘silent movie’? No talking – movement
only – actors must convey the story
through large movements only. In
pairs, create a scene on a theme of
their choice. Think of location, who
they are, and a story. Rehearse two
versions – one as a ‘silent movie’, the
other with dialogue.
Perform the wordless version
to the full group, with them
guessing the story. Then
show the version with
dialogue – how accurate
were they?

In groups, create a special machine,
with the children pretending to be

together, and think of the noise
different parts make. Whilst groups
work on this, one group at a time
starts to rehearse parts of the script
under my direction. (Share scripts to
groups.)
