Boxing Canada Personal Coach Program

Boxing Canada Personal Coach Program
INTRO:
Boxing Canada invites personal coaches of selected boxers on our National Teams to participate with
their athletes in camps and competitions under the following circumstances:
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS:
All travel and accommodation logistics shall be the responsibility of the personal coach. (In some cases if
Boxing Canada’s budget allows financial help might be possible)
Contacts for hotels / accommodation and flight numbers etc. may be obtained upon request.
All expenses are the responsibility of the personal coach
ACCESS WITHOUT ACCREDITATION:
Personal coaches may have access to athletes they coach at the practice area when the practice area is
not under accreditation control.
Personal coaches may communicate with athletes they coach at the competition site in any spectator
area or at the barrier separating athletes and spectators.
Personal coaches may communicate and socialize with boxers they coach in any public areas including
hotels, restaurants, shops, etc.
Tickets / seating for the competition are the personal coach’s responsibility.
ACCESS WITH ACCREDITATION:
It is possible that a coach can receive accreditation for an international event if there are more
accreditations allowed and available to Boxing Canada. The following policies outline guidelines within
this scenario.
Any additional requests for coach accreditation MUST BE REQUESTED BY THE BOXER not the personal
coach.
In order for the personal coach to be approved for the purchase of an accreditation, the following must
ALL apply:
1. A specific boxer must officially request the presence of the coach. (Athletes supported by Own
the Podium have priority)
2. Additional accreditations must be available for that event.
3. Coach must agree to pay all fees associated with the accreditation.
4. Coach must be endorsed by the team Head Coach. The Head Coach is ultimately in charge of
creating a positive and supporting atmosphere at all international events. If the presence of a
non-National Team coaches creates, or potentially creates any issues for other boxers, the Head
Coach has the ability to deny any such request.
5. Coach must be a Boxing Canada member in good standing
6. Coach must sign a release of liability as well as agree to Boxing Canada’s Code of Conduct
policies.
7. Coach must conform to all Boxing Canada uniform requirements, including purchasing team
uniforms at the coach’s expense.
8. Coach must meet the Boxing Canada and AIBA requirement for traveling with the National Team
for AIBA sanctioned event. (see Annex 1)
9. Coach must be a member of Coaches of Canada. (http://www.coachesofcanada.com)
Accredited coaches will only be allowed access to the practice area, not on the field of play without
approval from the Head Coach. In the event the Head Coach does provide access, it is understood that
the personal coach will ONLY coach his athletes and will not engage in coaching or otherwise disrupt the
event or other athletes in any way while on the field of play.
Access to the boxer will be coordinated with the assigned Head Coach.
National Team staff will represent the boxer in all situations requiring an agent.
Any personal coach in the field of play must have an accreditation and team uniform. This is managed
with the head coach and/or team manager.
All final decisions regarding the team - including time and organization of training - are the responsibility
of the national team staff and ultimately the Head Coach.
ACCESS WHEN THERE IS NO TEAM STAFF PROVIDED:
All policies listed above are still in effect. All requests and purchases of accreditations must be
completed prior to the trip with approval from Boxing Canada. No onsite accreditation purchases are
allowed.
Note:
All requests might not be granted nor guaranteed. Boxing Canada may not be able to secure the
requested accreditations or access to team accommodation. Boxing Canada will confirm all requests
individually.
