Kardale Junior Netball Club Newsletter November 2016 Over half a term in and we’re already seeing some great commitment and performances from our young players… Well done to the Year 6 team who are improving every match. They have had some tough opposition and the scores haven't necessarily reflected how well they have been playing, but this will come as they get more experience. Both Year 7 and 8 squads are working hard and doing well and we have had some great results, with some impressive wins on the scoresheets. It was a shaky start for the Year 9s when, for our first A and B game of the season, we were short of five players. The A team won their match by two goals and their next game comfortably 30 - 6. The B team, despite being short, competed really well and only lost their second game by four goals. We now feel more confident and are really enjoying our netball. The Year 8s attending Wednesday night training are performing well and making the sessions more beneficial for the Year 9s. Last year’s Year 9 squad have now become Kardale Orange Team within the Senior Section and have had a very positive start to their first season in the St Albans Senior League with matches being played on Saturday afternoons at Verulamium Park. Their first match was a well-fought and close match with them narrowly losing 35-30. They then went on a couple of weeks later to gain their first win which, after only four matches, is an excellent and positive start. This group of girls have been together now for a number of years, their commitment and enthusiasm is now paying off in their results and they all continue to enjoy their netball. Training Thankyou to the girls (and their chauffeurs!) for their continued efforts at training and on matchdays. If for any reason they are unable to attend training or matches, please advise their coach ASAP. As per the separate email, Thursday 17th November will see a joint training session for both Year 7 and 8 squads running from 6.30 – 8.30pm and will be supported by members of the senior squad. The last training sessions before Christmas (w/c 5th December) will have a festive theme and the girls are invited to wear something a little ‘Christmassy’. More info will be sent out by the coaches nearer the time, but Year 7s and 8s, please note, on Thursday 8th December, there will be another joint two-hour session during which we will run a mixed tournament. We then look forward to kicking off 2017 with Year 3/4/5 training on Tuesday 9th January. As per our last newsletter, there will be no training in half term week, 13th – 17th February, the last week of indoor training will be week commencing Monday 27th March and the provisional dates for outdoor training in Sandridge, when all the junior age groups come together for training, are Monday 8th, 15th and 22nd May. Summer League details to follow. Player Recruitment We’ve been delighted to welcome a number of new players since the season has started. We hope you are all settling in well! There are still a few places available for Year 6s and 7s, so if you know of anyone who is interested, please ask them to email [email protected] to arrange a free trial. Training Balls We have been advised of a slight delay in shipping and all being well these are now due with us the last week of November when they will be distributed to the girls during training. Just a reminder that, along with the water bottles, they are to be brought to every training session please. Kit Update All kit, including playing kit, is now available through Beat School Uniforms – www.beatschooluniforms.co.uk/index.php?organisation=KNC To our newer players, playing kit is not required until the girls start playing in league matches (from the summer of Year 5 onwards) although our younger players are obviously welcome to wear it. The playing kit consists of a navy and yellow top and skort, under which navy or black base layers can be worn in colder months. The Kardale hoodies have proved really popular across all the age groups. These start at £20 for age 5/6 but are not obligatory. (They might prove useful if you’re looking for Christmas present ideas though and they can be personalised!) Festive Gathering You should all have received an email from your respective coaches about the ‘Kardale Christmas Bounce’ on Thursday 15th December. Junior players are invited to book onto the 7-8pm session at Gravity Force, the new trampoline park on Hatfield Road and have a bit of fun with their teammates. You will need to sign an online waiver (if you have already been there, your waiver is valid for a year) and attend the safety briefing before the session begins. The cost for an hour’s bouncing is £10 (plus the purchase of ‘trampoline socks’) but at the time of writing there was an offer on Groupon of £7.50. (Just Google ‘Groupon Gravity Force’ for the link as it’s too long to include!) Please note that Kardale Netball Club won’t be responsible for the girls at the session and as per Gravity Force’s Ts&Cs, bouncers Under 12s will require an adult to be present. There is a café so parents/carers will have somewhere to gather! We hope to see lots of familiar faces there! Website – Any photographers out there?! We are getting there slowly with the new site. One thing we are short on is decent quality photographs to feature, so if any of you are handy with a camera and would like to take some training/match shots for us, please email Anne-Louise ([email protected]) and perhaps we could arrange for you to take some at your daughter’s training sessions/on a matchday. We obviously ask for ‘photo permissions’ to feature the girls’ images at the time of registration and as such will ensure that no players for whom permission has not been given will be featured on the site. As per the separate email, photos will be taken on Thursday 17th at the Year 7/8s training session. Feedback As always, we warmly welcome your feedback on all aspects of the club, so if you have any worries or concerns, please do email our Club Chair, Helen Swain – [email protected] Many thanks for your continued support…
