STAFF NEWS
Dr Simon Holmes - Retirement
It is with great sadness that we say
goodbye to yet another fine GP,
namely Dr Simon Holmes who will
retire on the 30 June 2011. Many of
you may remember back in August
1977 when a young and dashing new
GP arrived at Cotgrave wearing his
Deer Stalker Hat and driving a sports
car. He has worked very hard over
the years not only working here at
Cotgrave surgery but also at the
Breast Institute and the Fertility
Clinic at the City Hospital as a
specialist there. Dr Holmes will be
sorely missed by many of his patients
and the staff and we wish him every
happiness for a long and happy
retirement.
The staff Christmas
parties will never be the same
without Dr Holmes.
Following Dr Holmes’ retirement
there will be two salaried GP’s
working here. They will split the
working week between them. They
are Dr C Hewer and Dr V Naidoo.
Unfortunately they are not able to
start work here at Cotgrave until
August, due to their current contract
finishing dates.
These dates are
common to all doctors at this point in
their career.
Consequently we will have an
unavoidable shortfall in appointment
availability in July.
Wherever
possible we will be doing extra
surgeries and drafting in help from
elsewhere and will make every effort
to continue to provide the excellent
service currently available. Please
bear with us during this transitional
phase.
It may be that the Practice Nurse is
able to deal with your problem.
Please check with reception to see if
the Practice Nurse can help with your
ailment. Also please remember that
the Practice Nurse can do Medication
Reviews and this will then free-up GP
appointments for those who really
need them
Jacquie Gauntley – Practice Nurse
–Anniversary
Jacquie
celebrated
her
25th
anniversary here at the practice on
20th June 2011. She has worked
tirelessly over the last 25 years not
only as one of our practice nurses but
also doing charity events for the
Alzheimer’s Society. She walked the
Great Wall of China in May 2009 and
Jacquie is also doing a parachute
jump in aid of the Alzheimer’s society
on the 21st July 2011. If anyone
wishes to sponsor Jacquie’s fund
raising events she would be very
grateful.
Many congratulations
Jacquie on achieving this milestone!!!
IS THE GP OR PRACTICE
NURSE RUNNING BEHIND
SCHEDULE?
Could you please bear with us if the
GP’s or Practice Nurses are running
behind schedule.
We understand
that this can be very frustrating for
our patients, but this only happens
should we have an emergency and is
not the fault of the reception staff.
