second machine - Rigid Containers

ANOTHER
CASEMAKER
RIGID SIGNS FOR
SECOND MACHINE
igid Containers, the UK
division of the VPK Group,
used the recent SINOCorrugated exhibition in Shanghai,
China, to sign the order for a
second Latitude four colour PP1025 flexo casemaker. The deal was
signed with Latitude’s UK sales
representative, GTS (Europe) Ltd.
This top die-cutting machine will be
installed at the company’s
Desborough factory during January
2012.
“We are running a similar
machine at the Selby site,” explains
Richard Coward, Managing
Director. “The new machine for
Desborough, which will be equipped
with pre-feeder and end of line
palletiser and materials handling
systems, is part of yet another
multi million Pound investment
project for our UK operations.
Following on from the investment at
R
Selby during the final quarter of last
year, this £2.5 million investment at
Desborough in both machinery and
factory renovations and extensions
will create additional capacity for
shelf ready packaging production at
the Desborough site.
“Being a fixed unit machine
allows operators to set-up ‘on the
fly’ to maximise productivity and
throughput,” explains Les Swanick,
Site Director — Desborough. “We
are very excited about the arrival of
the new machine and the structural
developments of the site. It will
mean that Rigid will have two of the
most well equipped and modern
production sites within the UK
market.”
The PP10-25 casemaker offers
high quality print, with registration
of +/- 0.5mm. It has a dual ink
chamber blade system as standard.
Due to its fixed architecture, quick
order changes can be undertaken;
the die-cut section is a moveable
unit and is equipped with anvil
trimming and speed compensation
control. A vacuum transfer unit that
runs the length of the machine
between print units and the final
slotter allows for extended drying
times for multi colour work.
VPK’s President, Jean-Paul
Macharis, was on hand at the
contract signing, and commented,
“This will be the fourth Latitude
machine within the VPK Group. We
have two in Romania and the new
machine will be the second in the
UK as well. They are well built and
reliable machines, with realistic
times for Return on Investment. We
are delighted at Rigid’s choice of
new machine and this further
endorses our own commitment to
the growth of each of the business
units within the VPK Group.” ■
