2016 U11 Field Lacrosse Team Document Team Vision/Mission Stand Together! Work Together! Our motto this season will be Stand Together! Work Together! And this will be our central theme in conversation, in play, in practice and in development. We will not only be stronger, but also more cohesive as a result. Our season will be focused on first creating and then displaying this vision to all we come in contact with. Our success with be derived from our mindset that we are stronger as one then as many. The Bench Staff will utilize this mindset in everything we teach. All players regardless of ability and parents regardless of knowledge in Lacrosse are equal members of this team and will treat each other with honor and respect and friendship every person deserves. We are ALL on the same team! Team Rules These rules and consequences are not meant to be punishments. These are expectations to be met by the players and coaching staff alike to ensure team bonding and cohesiveness. These guidelines are to keep teammates accountable to one another and ultimately to maintain our traditions, passion for the game of Lacrosse and our never ending drive for excellence. These actions will not be tolerated Behavior in Game/Practice: Disrespect towards opponents, officials, or poor sportsmanship Lowering team morale: (negative attitudes (i.e. you/we suck attitude, lack of hustle, etc.) Disrespect to coaching staff, teammates, parents, etc. Swearing/foul language Attendance at all practices and games is mandatory*. While injured players may be unable to play or participate in practice, they are still expected to encourage teammates and listen to instructions. Players not on time for practices and games depending upon severity and number of occurrence(s) will see game time consequences* Player must participate in at least 75% of the practices and 50% of the games in order to be part of the OMFLL Field Provincials Team Roster. * The Bench Staff understand that your player may be engaged in other team sports i.e. Spring Hockey, however we kindly ask for your understanding in that if your player is not present and therefore in a position to learn it is not fair to those that are making the necessary adjustments to their schedule to be there for the team. Unless otherwise excluded by the Head Coach 2016 U11 Field Lacrosse Team Document Team Involvement Volunteer Positions There are several ways we can each become more involved in the rewarding experience of youth sports. Each parent at some point through the season will be responsible for volunteering as an off field official (i.e. Time Keeper or Scorer). Before the beginning of the season you will be emailed a list of who is responsible for each date/game. Another great volunteer position (with excellent views of the field) will be the person responsible for the balls at the end line of the field. If for whatever reason you cannot make it for allotted time, please FIND a REPLACEMENT and advise the Head Coach, in advance of the Game please. Game Day Game day can be a frustrating but rewarding experience. We all feel the stress of competition and none more than the players themselves. As your player moves from the primary stages of sport into the intermediate stages there will be greater stressors and expectations. This is especially true for our Major aged players. There will be a greater expectation of responsibility and necessity placed upon these individuals. Many of these players have played the game for 4 years, we will do our very best to prepared them for the next level. At times we may call upon these players in greater context for leadership and/or team roles. For our minor aged players, this is an opportunity to learn from and develop their skills in order to become the leaders of tomorrow. As a competitive team in a competitive league we expect that players bring to each game/practice the desire to compete and perform at their peak level, anything less will not be sufficient. During the game we hope you cheer loudly and proudly, but maintain that we always represent Caledon and the Bandits. So please be respectful of the game, its players, coaches and officials. Lastly, Field Lacrosse is played during the Ontario spring season which at time can present interesting weather scenarios. Given the possibility of inclement weather and cold I kindly ask that each player be prepared with a pair of solid black track pants should they be required for game days. This team will practice in all-weather situations that are SAFE (Lightening is not safe). This is extended to practices since if we are expected to play in the rain we should be able to train in the rain. The ultimate decision on whether a practice is canceled rests with the Head Coach. Should you not hear from the Coach always assume practice is on. All team information will be relayed via electronic method Sport Ngin. Please be sure to sign up to our team site. 2016 U11 Field Lacrosse Team Document Practices The U11 Field team will hold up to two (2) weekly practices. It also reduces the chance of sustaining an injury caused by playing at full speed with cold, tight muscles. At the U11 level players will be expected to conduct suitable exercises as led by our captains and assistant captains to prepare themselves prior to each game. Players, Captains and Assistant Captains are similar to Coaches. Every player on our team will commit to performing a dynamic warm-up with as much conviction as they would when approaching the game itself. You can't go through the motions or jog around the field and expect to reap the full benefits of a proper warm-up. Consistently used, individual player performance will immediately improve, becoming better and more durable athletes. During the first couple practices our Fitness Director will aid the players in understanding the correct warm up procedures. Once relayed, players will be expected to conduct themselves as a single unit responsible and governing for themselves. It is expected that all players are to be prepared and ready to participate at the prescribed time. Lateness will not be tolerated, and will be dealt with by the coaching staff. Please remember WE all comprise the Team and Team is a sum of our efforts. If you are late you compromise these efforts. In addition to this, game time warm up will also include shuttle passing immediately following the dynamic warm up. Thus we warm up the body then the sticks. 15 min dynamic warm up followed by 15 min stick warm up At Practice - Players are expected to start the warm up 15 MINS PRIOR (this means they are actively participating not getting dressed during this time). If you are late for the warm up you are late for the practice. Before EACH Game - Player warm up will commence a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the posted start of game time. In situations where we the team has 2 games players are still expected to participate in the warm unless otherwise given direction by the Head Coach (i.e. too short a duration between posted times). Lastly, as Lacrosse families we pride ourselves in selecting a sport that is both fun and beneficial to our players development. That said we encourage you to have fun, bring your family and extended family along ALL are welcome. 2016 U11 Field Lacrosse Team Document PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT Please Review this with your player so that they understand these clearly. 1.
