The score however, did not reflect the high paced intensity of the game. There was some great team work and our defence was outstanding - the score could have been a whole lot worse! Mea scored our only goal and shut down several opposition goal attempts. Kelsey had a beautiful game, she really got stuck in there, attacked, defended and never gave up. Our awesome player of the day was Samuel who played an absolute blinder! Every aspect of your game was amazing. Well done Squirrels, you really put your heart and soul into this game! Our goals were scored by Gurkirat (1) Macey (1) George (1) Flynn (1) Hannah (4) and the other team scored an own goal off their players foot. Everyone in our team played exceptionally well and it was an exciting game to watch. Lots of players stood out with the different things they did during the game, however none of the parents could decide who should get player of the day. In the end Coach decided the whole team deserved player of the day. Well done team you all thoroughly deserved it. Also a big thank you to Hannah’s sister Kaitlyn who referees our game every week and to our wonderful supporters who always cheer us on! Pukete Smurfs played Te Totara Shooters. Goals were scored by Ryan (2) Breanna (1). The goals were a team effort and it’s great to see some thought going into the game. There was super defence from the backs, Mason, McKenna and Lily worked hard to keep the other team from scoring. The Mids and strikers took a lot more control of the game by forcing the ball out to the waiting wings, then racing to the top of the circle to receive the ball again. Player of the day went to Emma for her great positioning and keeping her chin up and playing a great game despite having an unsettled week with some sad news. Your Gran would have been very proud! Smurf of the Day was the Parents choice this week and it was given to McKenna. McKenna has some great ball skills, she just needs to back herself with the belief she has the ability to win the ball every time and fight for it! Only 4 more games to go!!
