Introduction
With focus on the important topic “Accelerating the Establishment of Science and Technology
Innovation Center with Global Influence”, the first 2016 Shanghai Design Competition is co-launched
by Urban Governance Research Center in Urban Development Institute of Fudan University,
Shanghai Lujiazui Smart Community Information Development Center, Shanghai Cohesion
Foundation, PetroChina Smart City Construction Project Team, ARUP, AceBridge and BOCOM Smart
Network Technologies Inc. Based on urban development and wisdom release, the competition will last
10 months and consist of project competitions, exhibitions, summit meetings, forums, seminars and
celebrations. It is held in Shanghai but works for the world. It is aimed to pool the wisdom of whole
society and discuss the problems and solutions for urban operations and development, creating an
innovative environment to release wisdom of everyone.

Before you sign up for the competition, please gather
sufficient information from our official website, make
yourself aware of the procedures to participate, then
download, and send the completed application form and
case proposal to [email protected], or post to “2016
Shanghai Design Competition Committee” at Room 223, 3F,
Shenfu Building, 206 Rushan Road, Pudong, Shanghai.
(You could also only submit the application form before
your final submission, then attend the trainings and
seminars we organised monthly to make yourself more
familiar with the competition).
No age limit, both individuals and
teams could participate (Note: team
members should be no more than 5 people)

* Note: All cases must be original, and the applicants must have the
ownership of the intellectual property of the products. The applicants must
have protections to their own intellectual property when we publish your
case

Final competition submission
If you are selected to be in the
final round, a Category 1 case
must have a prototype or model
of the product, a Category 2 case
must have a completed word file,
and a Category 3 case must have
a tangible form of output (details
please refer to our templates).

Awards for thesis
All the participants shall submit design cases. The
experts will review the cases for preliminary competition.
Then the participants will have 3 months to improve their
cases. Finally, the audience and media vote and
meanwhile the experts give the scores based on award
setting. After comprehensive assessment, 1 first prize, 1
second prize, 1 third prize and 2 winning prizes are set
for three kinds of awards.

Awards setting
Awards
First prize, 1 second prize, 1 third prize (6000 yuan for
the first prize, 4000 yuan for the second prize, 2000 yuan
Studing British smart cities

The top 15 participants also have the

Treasure Scheme (Quality Certification Scheme)
Build up a mode and social credit system good for free development of everyone
Treasure Scheme is a new and innovative system for certification point management. ‘Treasure Point’ means certification record
of innovation achievement in people’s study, work, life and social activities. It is a standard to measure innovation.
‘Treasure’ is record value to keep permanently while ‘Point’ is monetary value to gain resources.
For the winners in this competition, the sponsor will open an individual innovation account for them to store their ‘Treasure Point’.
‘Point’ is equivalent RMB ( one point is equivalent to RMB 1 Yuan). ‘Treasure ’is record value for innovation. When you get a
