Sealed Bid Auction - Ducks Unlimited Canada

We’re active by nature.
We didn’t set out to be Canada’s leading wetland
conservation organization. It happened naturally. We
believe it’s our responsibility to take care of our country’s
wetlands, and our activities continue to offer unparalleled returns on our conservation investments.
Wetlands have many natural benefits: providing habitat
for hundreds of wildlife species; naturally filtering our
water; helping reduce the impact of floods and droughts;
offering great recreational opportunities; acting as
“outdoor classrooms” for our children; and much more.
The Sealed Bid Auction program is an important
fundraising initiative for DUC. By bidding on a print or
merchandise item in your area, you’re supporting the
conservation of our precious wetlands.
Sealed Bid Auction
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is a national, private,
non-profit organization. DUC conserves, restores and manages
wetlands and their associated habitats for waterfowl,
other wildlife and people.

Place a bid on exclusive Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) merchandise through our Sealed Bid Auction (SBA) program. If your bid is the highest, you’ll purchase a beautiful,
framed, limited-edition art print or product while making an important contribution to DUC’s efforts to conserve Canada’s vanishing wetlands.
What if my print or merchandise is damaged
during shipping?
What is SBA, and how does it work?
DUC places limited edition art prints and merchandise in local
businesses for auction. People coming into the business can
bid on the products, which are then sold to the highest bidder.
It’s a great way to buy beautiful art while supporting an important
cause – the conservation of our vanishing wetlands – because
all proceeds go towards DUC’s wetland conservation work.
I’ve placed a bid. What happens now?
Before you walk away from the easel:
- note the auction closing date on the sign attached to the easel
- fill out the bid slip completely (including your phone number)
- make sure your bid is at or above the minimum bid amount
- indicate on the bid slip if you’d like more information on how
you can support DUC
Once the auction has closed, the bids will be collected by a
DUC volunteer or specialist and the highest bidder identified.
Within a week of the auction closing date, the highest bidder
will be contacted and arrangements will be made for payment
and delivery of the merchandise.
What if I’m not the highest bidder?
If you are not the highest bidder on the product at this site, you
can have your bid transferred to another SBA easel featuring
that same product in your area. Simply check the “second
chance” option on your bid slip.
We strongly encourage you to bid again on other prints
and merchandise. In addition to this easel, there are likely
several other SBA sites in your area where you can place bids
on this and other exclusive DUC product. View DUC’s full
collection of prints at ducks.ca/art.
Please note that your bid is a binding agreement, and if you
are the highest bidder, you are obligated to purchase the
merchandise at the amount you bid on it (all applicable taxes
and shipping/handling charges will be added to your purchase).
If DUC is unable to reach the highest bidder after seven days,
we reserve the right to award the second highest bidder
the right to purchase.
How do I pay for my DUC print or merchandise
if I am the successful bidder?
If you are the highest bidder, a volunteer or DUC’s call centre
will contact you to arrange payment. We accept payment by
credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), cash or
personal cheque.
Will I receive the exact item shown on the easel?
You will likely receive an identically framed, limited edition print
or merchandise item, sent directly to you from our warehouse.
However, you may also receive the product displayed on the easel.
How will I receive my DUC print or merchandise?
When you are contacted for payment, arrangements will also
be made to have your merchandise shipped to you by courier
(please supply an address for shipping). Please note that all
applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to
your purchase.
If you receive a damaged product, please contact the
telephone number located on the shipping box. A new
print or merchandise item will be sent to you in exchange
as product availability permits.
Can I exchange my auction purchase if I see
another item I like?
No. DUC cannot offer exchanges for auction purchases,
as it would infringe upon the nature of an auction program.
Where does the money go?
All proceeds raised through the SBA program go towards DUC’s
wetland conservation work. In fact, more than 84 per cent of
all dollars received by DUC are invested in habitat conservation,
research and education. By purchasing DUC merchandise,
you’ll be making an important contribution to wetland
conservation in Canada.
Are there other ways I can support wetland
conservation?
Absolutely. DUC has many programs through which you can
support our wetland conservation work. These don’t just
benefit DUC, but also have a lot to offer you in return. You can:
• Volunteer
• Attend an event
• Make a donation
