based on a skills analysis at our January camp. All teams
receive paid coaching during the week. We have a history of
success in local grades, have produced 37 Black Caps and we

This summer sport is continuing to grow in reputation due
to the success of all the teams at the different levels of
competition. We have a great group of students who are
interested in the sport and a coaching team that is
enthusiastic about its development within the school,
resulting in some great results at the regional and national
competitions. Teams at the senior and junior level regularly
participate in a Monday after-school competition against
other local schools during Terms 1 and 4. We also send
junior and senior teams to the Canterbury, South Island and
National tournaments.
YACHTING
We have a small, keen and successful group of competition
sailors. We hire 420s for competitions. Members are
expected to have competition experience. Sailing takes
place each Wednesday afternoon at Lyttelton and the team
sails in a number of interschool events. We currently hold
the Peter Mander Trophy and the Rotary Trophy. Our team
has represented Canterbury for the last nine years at the
national secondary schools team championships. A cost is
fixed at the start of each year to offset travel and
maintenance costs, hire of rescue boats, etc. and $150 to go
towards boat hire.
