The material provided here is for advanced users, and assumes you are migrating a Windows machine. NOTE : This walkthrough provides instructions for moving to a virtual machine (VM) with Windows 2008 R2 installed on it. You can use different Windows operating systems, but be aware that the instructions for conducting the transfer may differ somewhat. NOTE : This walkthrough is for a single transfer. You can use Double-Take Move to perform multiple transfers at once from a single machine. About Double-Take Move Double-Take Move allows you to migrate physical and virtual workloads with real-time replication from a single, intuitive user console. It will migrate your entire environment, including the file system, permissions, attributes, compression and encryption settings without suspending production operations. About the Scale HC3 System Scale HC3 combines the benefits of server virtualization and shared storage into a converged IT infrastructure platform where virtualized workloads have direct access to a distributed, scalable pool of shared storage and compute resources. The cluster eliminates complex virtualization and storage architectures for greater cost savings and management efficiencies from consolidation. Requirements for this Application Note Prior to using Double-Take Move for a physical-to-virtual (P2V) transfer, you should meet the following requirements: • • • • • • • • Meet all of Double-Take Move’s requirements for use with your source machine. For more information, refer to the product user guide. Have a configured Scale Computing HC3 available for use. Have a virtual or physical source machine for conducting a P2V transfer to the Scale Computing HC3. Know how to create a VM.
