2017 SPRING SEASON – MAJORS DIVISION LOCAL RULES
Time Limit:
All Majors games are played to completion.
Exception: Games end at the posted sunset time.
The Majors Player Agent will decide if and when a tie game will be resumed.
Batting:
Continuous batting order (every player bats)
Offense:
Little League rules (Majors division) apply
Defense:
• Each player present shall play a minimum of 9 defensive outs during a 6 inning game.
• Players who fail to play the minimum 9 defensive outs during a game must start the next
scheduled game and play any previous requirement not completed. Once the previous requirement is
completed, then the minimum playing rules apply for the current game as described previously.
• The only exceptions to these rules of “Defense” are due to games ended by “Mercy” Rule
4.10(e) or players: with an injury, absent, out of uniform, and/or not in good standing with the league.
Umpires:
• Home plate umpires will be provided by the League.
Pre-Season - Games 1-2: Games do not count toward division standings
Regular Season - Games 3-20: Games count toward division standings
Division Standings and Post Season Seeding: Teams will be seeded 1 through 7 for the post-season
playoffs based on overall record for the regular season.
Tie Breaker Procedures:
2 Teams Tied:
• Head to Head records, if still tied;
• Best record against opponents in descending order until there is an advantage. (i.e. Teams tied for first
with split head to head records will compare records against the 3rd place team, then the 4th place
team if needed and so on). If still tied;
• Head to Head run score differential, if still tied;
• Total run score differential, if still tied;
• Head to Head fewest runs allowed, if still tied;
• Total fewest runs allowed, if still tied;
• Coin flip administered by League President or Umpire-In-Chief
Multiple Teams Tied:
• Head to Head records among tied teams, if still tied;
• Best record against opponents in descending order until there is an advantage. (i.e. Three teams tie;
look at their records against the 4th place team. If more than one team remains, they continue to be
compared to teams in descending order). If still tied;
• Head to Head run score differential, if still tied;
• Total run score differential, if still tied;
• Head to Head fewest runs allowed, if still tied;
• Total fewest runs allowed, if still tied;
• Coin Flip administered by League President or Umpire-In-Chief
Post-Season Playoffs: This will be a 7 team double elimination tournament. Home team will be
determined in the following manner:


Rounds 1 and 2: Higher seed (i.e. lower numerical seed) based on regular season
Round 3 and after: based on playoff record. In the event of identical playoff records, home team will be
the higher (i.e. lower numerical) regular season seed.
Round 1
Game 1 - 5 seed -vs- 4 seed.
Game 2 - 7 seed -vs- 2 seed.
Game 3 - 6 seed -vs- 3 seed.
• 1 seed shall receive a Round One "bye" (considered a win for playoff record purposes).
Round 2
Game 4 - Lowest Seed Winner from Round One -vs- 1 seed.
Game 5 - Middle Seed Winner from Round One -vs- Highest Seed Winner from Round One
Round 3 and L Bracket
Game 6 - Middle Seed Loser from Round One -vs- Highest Seed Loser from Round One (Loser of this
Game is Eliminated)
Game 7 - Lowest Seed Loser from Round One -vs- Loser Game 5 (Loser of this Game is Eliminated)
Game 8 - Winner Game 6 -vs- Loser Game 4 (Loser of this Game is Eliminated)
Game 9 - Winner Game 5 -vs- Winner Game 4
Game 10 - Winner Game 8 -vs- Winner Game 7 (Loser of this Game is Eliminated)
Game 11 - Loser Game 9 -vs- Winner Game 10 (Loser of this Game is Eliminated)
Championship Round
Game 12 - Winner Game 11 -vs- Winner Game 9
Game 13 - Rematch of Game 12 (If Necessary)
