That is why film and gmae studios hire people that specialize in a specific area. Since it is our goal to help students succeed in the entertainment art industry we found out what these main areas are and designed our courses accordingly. For example here is a basic summary of the way a traditional production art pipeline works for films. It starts with individuals highly trained in concept design. They are the ones who interpret and draw the initial concepts for a fillm. Then it moves onto 3D modellers, animators and riggers who create the CG characters and props you see in the final film. Finally it comes down to lighters, visual FX artists, compositors and matte painters to bring it all CAREERS IN FILM AND GAME ART PRODUCTION Concept Design Junior game artist Character designer Environment designer Level designer Creature designer 3D Modelling Junior game artist Character modeller Digital sculptor Environment modeller Texture artist Animation Junior game artist Rigger Animator Motion editor Previz artist Visual FX Visual FX technical director Visual effect animator Junior compositor Junior lighting artist Compositing and Lighting Compositor Digital matte painter Lighting artist Image finaling artist Mentor work by Juani Guiraldes This course is offered by CG Spectrum Australia Pty Ltd, trading as CG Spectrum College of Digital Art & Animation, under the authority and licence of Republica Education Pty Ltd - RTO 20814 | Advanced Course brochure v.6 cgspectrum.edu.au 6 Become a Film or Game Artist COURSE OPTIONS The following pages include details and curriculum information on all of our specific career focused pathways. His early animation life began working on various children’s televisions shows, and in advertising for a range of post production studios around Melbourne. Some recent work has been animating on such feature films as TED and Ghost Rider 2 and through his own design studio, on various game, advertising and film projects. Throughout his career he has taught at various animation and gaming schools, and found that nothing is more inspiring or keeps his skills stronger than teaching an art form that he loves. Simon Warwick © Warner Bros. Instructor of Animation Simon Warwick is trained and practiced in animation but is always exploring technology, trying to learn how to create the next best thing. He’s spent the past 7 years working at established video games studios, and was recently credited as the only technical cinematic animator for Batman: Arkham City at Rocksteady Studios. Simon hopes to pass along skills learned in the games industry to help students deal with problems with no correct answers. Having an open mind and staying just outside your comfort zone can keep you ahead of the competition and make you a valuable employee. With time, the mysterious world of game development will be something that you too can explore and create in!
