Stalls: What is available and how your stall works











The stalls we use are professional covered, outdoor market stalls, with tarpaulin tops (though
are supplied without backs), supplied by Leeds City Council.
The table area is quite large at 10ft x 4ft and is built into the stall itself.
You must supply your own floor length table top cloth (around 10’ 6” x 6’ 6”), chair, float and
accessories, this is larger than at many similar markets.
A-boards are not permitted and benches on Albion Place must not be obstructed.
Please stay within the designated stall area and leave the access route behind the stall clear.
Stalls must be well presented and table covers must fit well to ensure the market looks its best.
You can hang products, banners, frames, lights etc. from the steel framework of the stall.
There is no access to electricity at the market. Silent non-polluting generators can be used,
though this must be by prior arrangement and written (e-mail) permission given.
Please note you can only sell handcrafted work, no items purchased from a third party can be
sold on at our markets, unless they have undergone significant reworking. If you are unsure,
please check in advance of the market.
You must have your insurance details with you when you trade as spot checks are carried out
both by ourselves and Council Officials. Many traders use www.a-n.co.uk, though we strongly
recommend you shop around for the insurance that is right for you.
As the market is held outdoors you will be subject to the elements, so be sure to secure light
products and props. Many traders also cling-film the stall sides to reduce exposure to wind, but
this must be removed from your stall prior to departure and disposed of appropriately.
You may bring your own ‘tarp(s)’ to cover the back of your stall to give added protection, though
this must be firmly secured (top and bottom) and in the event of strong winds we reserve the

right to insist on its prompt removal as they can create a wind tunnel effect which is an obvious
health and safety risk in high winds.
Artsmix will not be held responsible for any damage to stock on the day caused by adverse
weather or in the event of theft – note this is a very busy area of the City Centre.
If you have any specific stall requirements please discuss them prior to booking. The use of
clothes/display rails etc. may be permitted in place of the table, however you must provide
alternative weights for the stall and any such items must stay within the designated stall area –
this must be agreed prior to the market.
Please call the emergency number circulated with the stall plan in the event of absence or
lateness.
You are welcome to arrive to set up your stall from 8.15am (most arrive around 9am)
Stalls are allocated prior to arrival and no changes to stall allocation can be made on the day.
Please be set up and ready to trade by 10.30, vehicles must be removed from the site promptly
once you have unloaded. You can start trading as soon as you are ready.
You may not pack up until 6.30pm when trading ceases and (in line with the Council Traffic
Restriction Order) you must not bring or have vehicles on the pedestrianised areas of Leeds City
Centre between 10.30 and 19.00 – you may well be fined by the Council if you breach these
timings.
Please pack up your stall and clear away any litter you and your stall have generated before
bringing vehicles back on site. Be aware that the general public will still be around. You are
expected to vacate the site promptly at 19.00.
