NH 3 Lesson Outcomes (Objectives)/ Evaluative Criteria Students will be able to successfully demonstrate proper sabaki ball behavior and rules during a sabaki ball scrimmage using a teacher observation of student behavior. Equipment 4 bowling ball pins Music Projector You Tube clip Assessments: (connected to objectives); (attach assessment tools): Teacher observation of student behavior Interdisciplinary Connections: (Refer to NH DOE Curriculum Guidelines) Time 3 min Learning Experience/ Activity/Concept and/or Assessment Task (Indicate Teaching Style) (Label Content Analysis: E, R, A) Change and Attendance Students will have the opportunity to change (not necessary) only proper foot attire is necessary Role will be called for the students in the class Procedure Students will enter the class and will sit around the basketball key, some will enter the locker room and change first but then they will join the class around the key while attendance is being taken Formation Points of Emphasis/Teaching Cues/Safety Concerns Make sure everyone in the class is wearing appropriate footwear Getting seated in a fast and orderly fashion so that we can spend more time working on skill acquisition. 2 min 7-10 min 1 min Warm-up Instruction Students will be informed that they will be playing avalanche tag. Student will remain seated for the rules of avalanche tag 5 students will be selected to be taggers for avalanche tag. Avalanche Tag 5 taggers will be selected. 4 taggers are the avalanche one is the doctor. Students will roll a yoga ball around the class and attempt to roll a ball into a classmate. If tagged students will sit down and wait for the tagger with the yellow ball to come “free” them and they will reenter the game. Transition to key Students will put the equipment away and take a seat at the key Students will spread out throughout the gym to play avalanche tag Safety Rules No throwing balls at classmates Watch where you are running while playing No laying down Students will place the equipment away properly Students will take a seat at the key Placing the equipment away properly Moving in a quick and orderly fashion so that the is ample time for instruction Making sure that everyone know the rules of avalanche tag. Safety Rules No throwing balls at classmates Watch where you are running while playing No laying down 3 min 1 min 20 min Sabaki ball video Video will be briefly review going over rules and giving an example of gameplay Transition to sabaki ball Students will be split up into teams and instructed as to which court they will be playing on Sabaki ball Students will participate in games of sabaki ball. Teams will be rotated. Rules (see sabaki ball rule sheet) Students will remain seated at the key and watch the video I will review the rules of sabaki ball and some strategy Paying attention and getting involved in the demonstration and video.
