PARENT HANDBOOK Mission Statement Our mission is to encourage personal growth in each child by providing an excellent program of tennis, swim, and sail summer camps facilitated by nurturing and highly trained staff. Anchored in this safe and supportive community, each camper will have fun, acquire new skills feel valued for who they are and develop a sense of belonging. We believe that each child is a unique individual with his/her own rate of development. Our goal is to introduce children to as many new experiences as possible and help each child feel confident and secure in a fun, safe camp environment. We are dedicated to changing the lives of our campers by creating friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Camp Coordinator Terrie Mullane 214/558-7594 CLT Tennis Director Jeff Ewing 469/834-2474 Pool Manager Joe Taylor 469-500-2932 Sail Instructor Roy Kuipers 214/274-5227 Linda Adams 972/771-3600 Provides an organized and active tennis program for children ages 5+, designed to emphasize a fun energetic environment, developing skills through a positive learning experience and with a sense of accomplishment. CLT Tennis Director, JEFF EWING and our tennis helpers will provide the learning stages and players will focus on movement, balance, throwing and catching the ball, swing motions, making contact, grips and stroke development. As players continue to improve, additional skill sets will focus on coordinating movement and balance, and hitting the ball with purpose and direction. Game concepts and scoring will be introduced. The USTA (United States Tennis Association) 10 & under teaching methodology and concepts are used by trained tennis professionals. It's Easier Than Ever to Get in The Game Tennis is fun and accessible to kids and families everywhere. Your child will enjoy playing with balls that bounce lower and move slower through the air, making them easier to hit. Racquets are sized for small hands, making them easier to grip and swing. Courts are smaller, so kids can cover them and have more success when they play. Kids have more fun--and want to play more often. Tennis is a sport that gets kids moving, improves balance agility and hand-eye coordination, and can teach self-confidence and self-assurance. Playing tennis, your child can make new friends in a safe, supportive environment. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Tennis Schedule: 9:00 - 9:15am 9:15 - 10:30am 10:30 - 10:45am 10:45 - 11:30am 11:30 - 12:00am Warm up - Hand eye-coordination exercises, footwork drills, racquet control skills Technique and Skill Development - The classes consist of technical instruction for all strokes. Safety: Safety is our highest priority. While we want our campers to experience the thrill of sailing, we assure expertise to keep campers safe in the process. Activities are carefully planned and overseen. Our vessels are manned by an experienced instructor or helpers who are safe boating certified by the Coast Guard Auxiliary. All campers are to comply with the commands of the instructor(s).
