2008 PORT PIRIE STATE MASTERS GAMES SAILING Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th April 2008 ROYAL PORT PIRIE YACHT CLUB NOR - 2008 Port Pirie Pura Light Start State Masters Games Regatta, Page 1/4 2008 Port Pirie Pura Light Start State Masters Games Regatta NOTICE OF RACE The Port Pirie Masters Games as the organising authority has contracted the Royal Port Pirie Yacht Club to conduct the 2008 Masters Games Regatta on the waters of the Port Pirie River at Port Pirie on Saturday, 5th and Sunday, 6th April 2008. 1. 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 RULES The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. The prescriptions and Special Regulations of Yachting Australia will apply. The regatta will be open to sailors in the following gender and age divisions: Male and Female, aged 35 to 49 and over 50. Age ranges shall be as at the 31 March 2008. The Rule(s) of the Class Association of those classes entered will apply, except that the regatta may include a division for Herons sailed single-handed. Any class with 6 or more boats will be given their own division and start. Classes will be allocated to divisions, based on yardstick at the sole discretion of Race Committee. 2. ADVERTISING - Refer to ISAF Regulation 20 Advertising will be permitted in accordance with Category C. 3. 3.1 3.2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY The regatta is open to all classes of boats, which can comply with the Rules of their Class Association. The regatta will be open to sailors in the following gender and age divisions: Male, Female, 35 to 49 and 50 plus. Age ranges shall be as at the 31 March 2008 The regatta will include a division for Access Dinghy classes. Persons sailing an Access Dinghy shall be responsible for providing their own support team to assist them with rigging, launching and retrieving boats from the beach area and any personal support that they may require during the regatta. There are no disability access facilities available at the regatta beach venue. Eligible boats may enter by completing and returning a 2008 Masters Games Entry Form. The Sports Levy of $10.00 will apply for each boat All required fees shall be paid when submitting the Masters Games Entry Form, which must be lodged by Friday, 14th March 2008. 5. 5.1 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Registration: All competitors shall register at the Masters Games Registration Centre before 1100 hours on Saturday, 5th April to confirm their attendance at the regatta. Competitors will be required to sign a safety form at the RPPYC each day before racing. Briefing: A regatta briefing will be held on the Sailing Beach at 1130 hours on Saturday, 5th April. 5.2 NOR - 2008 Port Pirie Pura Light Start State Masters Games Regatta, Page 2/4 5.3 Dates of racing: Event Race 1 Race 2 Race 3 Race 4 Race 5 5.4 When there are two races scheduled back to back, the Warning Signal for the second race will be signalled approximately 5 minutes after the last boat finishes in the previous race. To alert boats that another race will begin soon, flag AP will be displayed with one sound signal at least 1 minute before a warning signal for the next sequence of races is displayed. MEASUREMENTS Each boat shall hold a valid measurement certificate issued by the Class Association. 7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available at registration. 8. VENUE The regatta will conducted at the Royal Port Pirie Yacht Club on the waters of the Port Pirie River including the swinging basin and extending approximately 1 mile northward. 9. THE COURSES The courses to be sailed will be displayed adjacent to the notice board at the clubrooms and on the beach at least one hour prior to the start of each days racing. 10. PENALTY SYSTEM Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required. 11. 11.1 11.2 11.3 SCORING The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply. 5 races are required to be completed to constitute a series. A boat’s series score will be the total of all her race scores. There will be no race discards. 12. SUPPORT BOATS Team leaders, coaches and other support personnel shall stay at least 200 metres outside areas where boats are racing from the time of the preparatory signal for the first Division to start until all boats have finished or the race committee signals a postponement, general recall or abandonment. 13. RADIO COMMUNICATION A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 16. PRIZES 16.1 Prizes will be Port Pirie Pura Light Start State Masters Games 2008 medals 16.2 Prizes will be awarded to both Male and Female competitors for the following divisions: (1) All classes with 6 or more boats: 1st, 2nd and 3rd outright in age categories 35 to 49 and over 50 years. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 18.
