Tournament Rules - Rogers Royals Basketball

2017 BOYS ROGERS ROYALS CLASSIC RULES
The National Federation of High School Basketball Rules and Minnesota State High School
League Rules will be followed except as noted.
TEAM RULES
•
One head coach and one assistant coach are provided free admission. Coaches will
provide the tournament director with their cell phone number prior to the beginning of the
tournament.
•
The first/top team listed is the home team and will have choice of jersey color. Game ball
will be supplied by one of the two competing teams at the discretion of the referees.
•
A team cannot start a game with less than five players. If enough players are not on the
floor by five minutes after the scheduled start time, it is an automatic forfeit. The score
will be 15-0.
•
Teams should be present and ready to play 15 minutes before scheduled game time.
Each team is responsible for writing their lineups on the official score sheet prior to the
game.
•
Five minutes will be allowed for warm-up and half time. Referees have the discretion to
shorten these times to keep the tournament on schedule. Referees may start the games
early with the consent of BOTH coaches. In no event shall the game start be moved up
more than 15 minutes early without the prior approval of the Tournament Director.
•
In all grades a coach may use a player from a lower grade but in no case will a player
from a higher grade be allowed to play.
•
•
Players may only play on one team for the duration of the tournament.
•
•
Three point shots will be in effect for all levels of play during the tournament.
Alternate possession: We will use the alternate possession rule in all jump ball situations
other than the start of the game and any overtime periods. The teams will alternate
taking the ball out of bounds for a throw in.
Players and spectators will remain off the courts during time outs and breaks of other
games. Clean up all drink bottles and garbage left on the benches after your games.
Please respect the gyms and school property.
GAME TIME
•
•
Games will consist of two 14 minute halves with stop time.
In the second half with less than seven minutes to play any game shall become running
time if a team is ahead by 20 points or more. Running time will continue until the losing
team cuts the lead to 10 points or less at which point the game returns to stop time.
TIME OUTS
•
Each team will have three time outs per game. Unused time outs will not carry over into
overtime. One timeout for the first overtime period. No time outs for a sudden death
period.
OVERTIME
•
The first overtime will be two minutes long stop time. The second overtime will be
sudden death. The first team to lead by at least one point in sudden death will be the
winner. Each overtime period will start with a jump ball.
FOULS
•
Bonus free throws (1 and 1) will be shot on the 7th team foul per half. Double bonus (2
shots) will be shot on the 10th team foul per half. Technical fouls will not be shot. Team
will be awarded 2 points and possession of the ball. Technical fouls are also counted as
team fouls and player fouls.
•
If a team has only five players left in the game, no player shall foul out of the game after
their fifth foul. Any subsequent fouls on that player will result in the fouled team being
awarded a technical foul point (no shot) plus the ball out of bounds in addition to the
regular foul shots.
•
•
•
A player committing five personal fouls per game is disqualified except as noted above.
•
Additionally, referees have the right to eject any fan who the referee feels is not
demonstrating good sportsmanship. Any fan ejected for any reason will not be allowed to
return for the remainder of the tournament.
Any player that receives two technical fouls in a game will be ejected from the game.
Any coach that receives two technicals during a game or in total for the tournament will
be ejected from the game and asked to leave the court/gym/premises for the remainder
of the tournament.

for 4th grade.
