PLAYERS’ CODE OF BEHAVIOUR CLUB & TEAM NO: COACH NAME: PHOTO CONSENT: YES NO TEAMS PLAYERS/COACHES/SPECTATORS We the undersigned players & coaches acknowledge the need for all players, officials and spectators to adhere to a Code of Behaviour. We will do our best to ensure that any spectators associated with our club also adhere to this Code of Behaviour SIGNATURES Play for the “fun of it”. Play by the rules. Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain or coach approach the official during a break or after the game. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials or other players, deliberately fouling or provoking an Players Name (Print) Parent Signature opponent and throwing equipment is not acceptable or permitted in any sport. Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Be reasonable in your demands on your players’ time, energy and enthusiasm. Teach your players that rules of the sport are mutual agreements which no one should evade or break. Whenever possible, group players to give a reasonable chance of success. Avoid over-playing the talented players. The ‘just average’ players need and deserve equal time. Remember that we participate for fun and enjoyment and that winning is only part of their motivation. Congratulate all participants upon their performance, regardless of the game’s outcome. Wanneroo Districts Netball Association would like all players, officials and spectators to be aware of our Codes of Behaviour. Would all teams, spectators or officials please read and sign this brochure and return it to your Club Coordinator who will advise the office, so we will know you have all seen it. Respect the official’s decisions. If there is a disagreement, follow the appropriate procedure in order to question the decision and teach the children to do likewise. WANNEROO DISTRICTS NETBALL ASSOCIATION (INC) GOOD SPORT Never ridicule a player for making a mistake during a competition. Positive comments are motivational. FUN Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players. Show respect for your team’s opponents. Without them there would be no game. CONTROL TEMPER Encourage players to follow the rules and the officials’ decisions. Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using foul language, harassing players, coaches or officials. FRIENDSHIP Avoid use of derogatory language based on gender. Recognize the value and importance of volunteer coaches and officials.
