Macintosh Computers Connecting to the Academy Network from your Dormitory CONNECT to DATA PORT Connect your computer to the data port in the wall using the blue cable provided in your dorm room. CONFIGURE DHCP Launch System Preferences from the Dock Under Internet & Wireless click on Network Set Location to Automatic. With Ethernet selected on the left, set Configure to Using DHCP. Click Advanced. On the TCP/IP tab, set configure to Using DHCP Now click on the Ethernet tab. Set Configure to Automatically Click Apply. CONFIGURE DATE and TIME Click on the time in the upper right corner of the screen and scroll to Date and Time preferences. Next to Set date and time automatically, replace with: time.andover.edu. Your computer date/time will synchronize once you complete registration. ANTI-VIRUS INSTALLATION We strongly suggest that Macintosh users install the FREE Anti-virus Software is available in PAnet Type http://panet.andover.edu in your browser address bar and login using your given username and password. On the Students tab in PAnet, under the Technology Office module you will find the link to our free anti-virus software Trend for Macs. Registering Your Apple Computer on the Academy Network Supported clients: OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger) and above. 1. Log into the computer using an administrator account. 2. Launch Safari 4.04 or Firefox 3.5.7 or 3.6 3. The Phillips Academy Network Access login screen should display in the browser. If it doesn’t, type in any web address and you will be redirected to the following screen. 4. Login using your PAnet username and password (supplied to new students on the salmon paper in your mailbox). 5. Click the Download Cisco NAC Agent button 6. Double click the CCAAgent_MacOSX.tar file from your download location to extract it. Once complete, click the CCAAgent_MacOSX.pkg file to install the Cisco Clean Agent. 7. In the Welcome to the Cisco Clean Agent Installation window, click Continue. Click Continue two more times and then click Install. You may be prompted for your computer’s administrator credentials. 8. A pop-up window Cisco Clean Access Agent will display, uncheck Remember Me and login using your PAnet username and password (provided to new students on a salmon paper in your mailbox). 9. Once successfully logged into the network, click OK and test the connection by going to an internet site. Important: The CCA Agent is located in the menu bar at the top of the screen next to the clock. If at any time you Quit the application, you will need to reopen it from applications or the icon will reappear on restart. Please note that you will be prompted to log into the client whenever your network connection is disrupted (cable unplugged, computer restart…) and then re-established.
