pre-ofsted visit checklist

Early Years Foundation Stage Setting Checklist
Children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met and when they have positive
relationships with the adults caring for them. The EYFS safeguarding and welfare requirements, specified in this section, are
designed to help providers create high quality settings which are welcoming, safe and stimulating, and where children are able to
enjoy learning and to grow in confidence (EYFS, 2012). The EYFS requirements do not override or remove any obligations
providers have arising from other health and safety legislation or any other relevant legal requirements.
This EYFS setting checklist can be used to support you in reviewing your working practices, including paperwork and
documentation. It is not an exhaustive list of Ofsted or EYFS requirements and you should ensure you have a working
knowledge of these at all times. We suggest that you have a copy of the EYFS Statutory Guidance available when working
through this checklist. Information to some supporting documents can be accessed via http://www.suffolkcpd.co.uk
Please note- ‘The information contained in this guidance is for general information purposes only. While every effort has
