United Way NOCS 2014 Promotional Poster Contest Rules
Contest Official Rules and Regulations
This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. The entrant is
providing information to United Way North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap and not to Facebook. The information
the entrants provide will only be used for verification of eligibility to participate in the contest. Please direct any

1. The Contest and Contest Period
The period to submit entries for the United Way NOCS Promotional Poster Contest (the Contest)
commences at 4:00 p.m. PST on May 9th 2014 and concludes at 4:00pm PST June 16th 2014 (the Entry
Period). The voting will take place from June 17 until July10th 2014 at 4:00pm PST (the Contest Period).
2. Free - No Purchase Necessary or Entry Fees
3. Eligibility
a)
Contestants must between the ages of 15 years to 25 years by January 31, 2014.
i. Proof of age may be required to collect prizes.
ii. In the event a candidate does not meet the age requirements, the prize will be awarded to the
candidate that successfully obtains the next highest votes during the Contest Period.
iii. Minors must receive consent as outlined on the Entry Form to participate in the Contest.
b) A request for anonymity will be accommodated.
i. Administrators cannot determine if anonymity will affect the number of votes a submission will
receive.
ii. Anonymous entries will be assigned numbers for identification Anonymous 1, Anonymous 2 and
so on, to assist with identification for voting and judging purposes.
c) Must be a resident of British Columbia and live within the operating area. See Area of Responsibility Map
on page 4.
4. How to Enter
a)
All entries will be submitted to the United Way North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap office with a copy of
an entry form and the original artwork, either in person or by mail. Entries without an original copy of
the artwork will be disqualified.
b) The United Way reserves the right to affix the United Way NOCS logo on all entries once submitted.
i. The logo will be approximately 5cm x 4.5cm on the bottom right hand side of the poster.
c) Participant is not required to have a Facebook account.
d) All entries will be scanned and uploaded onto our Facebook page for the voting process.
e) A maximum of 50 entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis depending on Artistic
Requirement Rules in Section 6.

Entries will be mailed to or submitted in person during operating hours to United Way NOCS, Promotional
Contest Campaign, 3304 - 30th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 2C8 between business hours of 9am – 4pm
Monday to Thursday, phone 250-549-1346 or 1-866-448-3489 for any clarification.
5. Artistic Requirements
b) A central theme is required that embodies the work that United Way does within the community.
c) Acceptable slogans “Change Starts Here” or “Give. Volunteer. Act.”
d) The theme must reflect the efforts of United Way in the communities it serves. Please visit the United Way

e) All entries must be original works of art to be eligible entries.
i. No digital reproductions or derivative work based on copyrighted works
ii. Includes all forms of mediums that have the capability to be scanned and uploaded on-line.
iii. No copyright infringements are permissible with the exception of the stated United Way Theme.
f) Entries must be 8.5” x 11” in size to qualify in the contest.
6. Voting Process and Winner Selection

Entries will be uploaded onto the Facebook page of United Way North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap.
The entries will be voted on by the Facebook community.
The winner will have the most votes on their entry.
The polls will close at 4:00pm PST on July 10th 2014
In the case of a tie, the contestants with equal amounts of votes recorded at the time of the count will
compete in finalist competition in a 3-day competition from July 11th – 14th.
The names of the artists will be posted with their entry on Facebook during the voting process except where
arrangements for anonymity have been requested.
7. Winning Prize and Notification

The winning prize is two sport/music weekend passes for Center of Gravity in Kelowna BC for the dates
July 25-27th, 2014.
The value of the prize is approximately $420.00 CDN. The prize must be accepted as awarded.
This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Center of Gravity.
The tickets offered by United Way NOCS have been received by donation.
Should the winner be unable to claim the Prize as awarded, his or her entry will be forfeited and the second
place winner will be selected.
Winners will be contacted by telephone or email provided on the entry form.
The winner(s) are responsible for collecting their winnings from the United Way NOCS office during
regular business hours of 9am – 4pm Monday to Thursday.
The winner will be notified on July 11th, 2014, unless there is a tie per Section 6 e
The winner is required to contact United Way NOCS at 250-549-1346 or 1-866-448-3489 and arrange to
claim their prize by July 17th failure to do so will result in the prize being awarded to the runner up.
8. Odds of Winning
a) The odds of winning are dependent on the number of entrants.
b) Only 50 entries are being accepted therefore the potential odds range down to 1/50.

9. Declaration and Release of Prize Winner
a) Accept the Prize as awarded
b) United Way NOCS must release the name of the winner for reasons of transparency.
c) For myself(or, in the case of a Parent/Guardian, for the selected Entrant), my (or, in the case of a
Parent/Guardian, the Selected Entrants) heirs, executor, administrators, assigns and personal representatives
(collectively the “Releasors”) waive and release any and all claims to which I (or in the case of a
Parent/Guardian, the Selected Entrant: may become entitled to for any reason whatsoever including,
without limitation, for death, personal injury, illness, breach of contract, negligence, strict product liability,
economic loss or damage to personal property, and do hereby release, remise and forever discharge United
Way North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap and their respective employees, Board of Directors and
volunteers (collectively the “Releasees”), of and from any and all liability, actions, causes of action, suits,
debts, dues, sums of money, costs, interest, claims and demands whatsoever, whether at law or in equity,
which I have (or, in the case of a Parent/Guardian, the Selected Entrants has) or hereafter may or shall have
in connection with the Contest, my (or, in the case of a Parent/Guardian, the Selected Entrants) acceptance,
possession, or use of the Contest Prize or any portion thereof.
d) Acknowledge that the Posters created for this Contest may be used in future promotions of United Way
North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap and that credit will be given to the Artists (except where anonymity is
requested) in publications without further compensation. I hereby accordingly agree to release all rights,
title and interest I have in the works.
10.Privacy
a)
Information collected for the purpose of the United Way NOCS Promotional Poster Campaign 2014 is
solely for the purpose to identify the winners and to verify the eligibility of the contestants.
b) This information will only be available to the staff and the Board of Directors of the United Way NOCS.
c) This contest is developed in partnership with students of the Okanagan College who are required to adhere
to the standards of privacy set out in PIPEDA.
d) Information collected will not be distributed to third parties for any purpose; United Way NOCS does not
disclose information to third parties for any purpose.
