Captains Reports – Round 8
20/20 Report – Lance Hunt
Well we played Ferndale at Middleton Park on Sunday and we got off to a
great start losing the toss and being sent in to field which is what we
wanted to do anyway. Andrew “Nigel” Fraser opened the bowling for us in
his first weekend back playing this season and he looked a tad short of a
gallop with his first over going for 17. Will Kiely then opened the bowling
from the other end and after his first over went for 4 runs Ferndale looked
like they were about to pile on a huge score. Some sloppy ground fielding
and dropped catches didn’t help our cause but the bowling for the rest of
the game was exemplary with wickets falling regularly. With no wides
bowled at all in the whole 19 overs. Well done !!!
Will Kiely finished with 0/5 off 4 overs. Suneeth 2/14 off 2, Fraser 2/30
off 4, Matt Holodny (after recovering from an earlier concussion in the
field) 1/4 off 1.3, Kapil 3/19 off 4 and Jobin bowling sharp 2/20 off his 4
overs. Eventually Ferndale were all out for 99. With a special mention to
Colby keeping again taking 1 catch and 2 stumpings (well done mate)
Sammy and Lance “Captain Cook” Hunt then opened the batting and with
only 2 runs scored off the first over Sammy was then clean bowled in the
second over and Carlisle was looking in trouble. Enter Colin “Snorkel”
Devincentiis and a big partnership with Lance Hunt effectively icing the
game for the Red Dogs. Colby eventually succumbing for 15 and then
Lance (54 no) and Kapil (17 no) then cleaned up the game in the 15th over
in what turned out to be a very emphatic win for the boys.

Carlisle 7/129 DEFEATED Belmont 10/105 & 8/185
Provided by The Colonel and The Skip
Well we won the toss and decided to bowl first and it turned out to be a good decision
with us bowling out Belmont for a total of 105 off 48 overs. We dropped a few catches in
the field however we were creating chances left right and centre so in the end we weren’t
overly hurt in the field. Some brilliant fielding by Caddsy resulted in a great run out and
another by Clarky (direct hit) helped limit their total and some great bowling by all
bowlers finished off the innings. Incognito made up for a dropped catch that nearly went
through his chest with figures of 2/6 off 3 overs and was on another hat trick which the
number 11 nervously made it through. DK was brilliant but unlucky bowling 10 overs, 7
maidens 0 wickets for just 4 runs. Caddsy bowled like he was outback drunk 11 overs 5
maidens 2 for 21. Mervosaurus 5.5 overs 2 for 29 with Clary and Moorby each picking up
a wicket also.
We then went out to bat with an old duo combining for the first time in 3 years with the
Colonel and Disco opening up and they got the score to 40 before Moorby cut a beautiful
six then was brilliantly caught at mid-wicket for 11 and then not long after that Pete
Sanders was out for 22 caught in the same position. We then lost 2 quick wickets right at
the end of the day losing Sammy for 5 and Merv for 2 to be 4/75 at stumps with Matt
Holodny 20 no and DK 1 no.
The second week we knew barring a catastrophe we should get up and we did quite
comfortably in the end. It all came off the back of another great innings from Matt
Holodney 40 and a quick fire 21 from the Tommy, including the first 6 I’ve seen him hit
and a couple 4’s down the ground. Great stuff guys. 7/129 Declared.
We sent Belmont back in hoping to get some quick wickets and put them under some
pressure. It wasn’t to be a good opening stand by two young openers prevented us from
going for the outright. In the end though we put in a solid effort in the field even with us
reduced to 9 men on the park for the last hour due to Christmas parties going on.
Merv, Denis and the skip picking up a couple wickets each.
We have strung a couple good wins together now let’s finish off the year with another
strong performance. That goes for all the grades, nothing better going into the Xmas
break on a win. Woof! Woof!

5th Grade – Peter Anderson
Carlisle 10/152 defeated by Leederville 10/184 & 9/69
Day 1 and Leederville batted first and the game went to a familiar pattern:
Dropped catch – wicket – Dropped catch – wicket – Dropped catch – wicket
– Dropped catch – wicket – Dropped catch – wicket – Dropped catch –
wicket – Dropped catch – wicket – Dropped catch - wicket and eventually
if you give every batsman two chances someone will make you pay and 7
for 96 became all-out 184. A total which should have been well under 100.
Great bowling from Lenny Pascoe 4/53 off 23 overs went unrewarded, with
2 wickets each for Lidds, Kimbo & Vinny. Also 6 catches behind the
stumps for Manu.
Then to really top off the day we were 3/22 after 19 overs at stumps.
Day 2 didn’t start much better with an early wicket at 4/23. However the
man in form, Manu came in to bat and together with myself we at least
went past the follow-on before I got out with the score on 88. Another 3
wickets fell at 101, 102 &103, with Manu out for 57. Then the tail wagged
hard, with Lidds 19, Zac 12no & Vinny 14 almost giving us hope, but we
fell short.
We put them back in to bat and opened the bowling with Zac who took the
first wicket in the first over and then it became the Lenny Pascoe Show as
we did what we should have done in the 1st innings and bowled them out
for 69, with Lenny taking 8 for 18 off 12.1 overs, including one spell of 6
wickets in 16 balls. A great effort but probably still needs another couple
of games in 5th grade just to work on getting those last two wickets.
No time for us to bat again and try for an outright, but special mention to
Shane Z who nearly took the best catch I have ever seen at Carlisle.
All in all a game we should have won and now a must win game against
Coolbinia –West Perth at Carlisle Reserve this week.
7th Grade – Darryl Jago
Carlisle 9/142 & 3/48 DEFEATED Leederville 10/76 & 10/180
After already winning on 1st innings last week, outright was on our minds
on day 2. But Leederville had other ideas, our bowling wasn't the best nor
our fielding with a couple of dollies dropped.
We ended up rolling them for 180, leaving us 115 off 10 overs. Not really
enough overs but we had a go only to lose a couple of wickets and
finishing 3/48 off 7.
Our bowling figures were, DN 1/16, SC 3/51, SS 1/25, AV 2/27, DJ 2/31
AND NK 1/5 with CW the unlucky bowler not to grab a wicket but bowled
really well.
Still UNDEFEATED with Ascot this week.
