Renee Kelly #42 SEC Legend - Richmond County School System

A native of Augusta, GA and graduate of University of Missouri #42.Renee Kelly, a two-time Big Eight
Conference player of the year, who dominated the league from her center position from 1983-87.
Kelly ranks second in MU history with 2,119 points and holds the school career rebounding record at
1,098, men and women. In all, she holds six career, three season and four single-game records. While
at MU, the Tigers made three trips to the NCAA tournament. Kelly was the Big Eight Conference
Female Athlete of the Year in 1987. She earned all-America honors in 1987, a finalist for the Naismith
Award. Kelly also was an Academic All-Big Eight selection, and is one of only two women's basketball
players at MU to have her jersey retired. Inducted into Missouri Hall of Fame 1994, and then played
four years of professional basketball in Italy and Brazil. During her international tour, her Brazilian
team won the South American Cup. She also played in one of the first female promotional games
Liberty Basketball Association - (LBA), and featured on the cover of USA Today dunking. Recently,
she was inducted as a SEC Legend 2014. Inducted into Academy of Richmond County High School,
elite hall of fame 2014.
Currently, principal at the Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School “TCM”, the newest high
school in the district, Kelly continues to expect 110% from her staff and students. Her philosophy and
determination carries from the court to the classroom; through her winning attitude. She has
committed the last 17 years as a passionate educator. Her energy and level of intensity to give the
students the best is demonstrated through her hands –on approach and her level of excellence for all.
She provides clear expectations and expects excellence from all (staff, students, parents and
community partnerships). Her goal is to create a world class school with world class learners. The
game plan for these students are to complete high school and Technical College earning certificates,
diplomas, and degrees with job opportunities at the completion of high school. Kelly is determined to
build an All-American Team and win big… with society.
