POSSIBLE TECHNICAL ISSUES WITH OUTLOOK
Everyone smtp not allowed by ISPs
Some ISPs do not allow you to use your own smtp servers on their broadband – ISPs such as Orange, some old
BT accounts, some Virgin accounts and others. So if you are sure you have set everything correct – and still the
user cannot send in Outlook but can receive – then this could be the reason.
Solutions
1.
2.
They contact their ISP and ask for the specific smtp configuration required to send e-mails on their
broadband. Note: normally these settings will only work when connected to their broadband. So
Orange settings will work on Orange broadband, but not on says BTs should the computer be used
elsewhere – therefore Orange users have to keep changing smtp settings n a laptop used in various
locations.
Use a third Party smtp such as Gradwell. Setting for Gradwell are as below.
Outlook Outgoing Server Settings to Reduce Spam blocking
When setting up Outlook the Outgoing Server (in More Settings) is normally set to use same settings
an Incoming server for authorisation. This is normally a default setting in Outlook.
However, we have had a customer who says that not all their e-mails get through t recipients (seem
to get blocked)
Everyone.net advise to try the following in this case.
Set the Outgoing server authentication to “Log on Using” then enter the username and password.
Username in Everyone.net is the users e-mails address and the password is the password set up for
that account (same as you log on the webmail and use to set up Outlook in the first place).
